That looks like a good thing Harv. At super cheap today a guy bought one similar but I reckon it was more like forty bills.
Patrick, I have the factory exhaust stud setup in that the first and last are a dowel. These often seem to get replaced with a bolt, but generally that happens when tubular extractor style headers are fitted, and sealing becomes an issue. I have no sealing issues with the cast headers and factory stud setup as supplied by the machinist. The fine spline studs are apparently NLA, so mine are 3/8”UNC.

I don't know if I overfilled the box, don't think so. The engine was sitting nose down. Big leak from the input shaft. From memory there is no seal here, just an oil slinger arrangement. I adjusted the angle to how it sits in the car and the leak ceased. I will revisit the manual to confirm I haven't missed installing a seal but there wasn't one when I pulled it apart. I recall the beaing is a sealed type which should prevent egress.
Reassembling the honeypot content is a pain, particularly getting the wiring down the column. All done and tested resistance.
Filled the steering box with supplied "fluid" by Roger's recommended method, using a cooks piping bag and icecream stick to help eliminate air pockets. Most of the supplied tin went in there. Ready to install.

Strip my Taiwanese harmonic puller. Maybe using the air wrench on it was a bit too much. Bought a decent Toledo one like I should have in 1985. Sealed up the crank and banged it back on. There was a film of oil on the back but its only 5 minutes old I told myself. Later sorting through stuff there is a seal. Anyway it is back in the hole now. Was a bit of a juggle. Had it sitting too horizontal.
The hand brake crossmember speedo all fitted together nicely.

Thanks for the encouragement Neil. I realise I have been posting every detail and often not a lot can be said.
I had a couple days off to work on this. Busy time with Raff coming to the end of year 12 and his project presentation today. Not the best weather here for displaying a car but he got it all polished up, and used a product called Topaz, recommended by son of a friend who details cars for a living. I’m trying to get back on the road for club cruise down my way on November 13th, and there are two days taken up by yr12 class project presentation speeches. Also have to work I suppose.
List of things to be done:
1 ) Fit up clutch slave, clutch cover, new linkages, shifter, steering wheel and tappet cover.
2 ) Gearbox mount seems to have one of the threads stripped: investigate. It is brand new and old one had same problem. Maybe it is the bolt but looks ok, sort of.
3 ) install new uni joints and tail shaft.
4 ) Pull radio and either swap, or repair faulty switch.
5 ) Repair wiring loom and reinstall.
6 ) Final fit temp/oil gauge.
7 ) Install additional floor insulation, rubber mat and seat.
8 ) Paint and install VH40 remote booster and bleed brakes. I hope it still works ok after sitting around for 7 years.

Oh yes, still have to refit engine pipe and sort out cable throttle, at the pedal mainly.

have you got an insulator between the oil pressure switch and distributor? i found mine would foul the switch and cause the light to illume

Looking good Clay ... but I thought you were just doing a quick fix on this one so you had something to drive while fixing the panelvan
