Have a read of the point below from the CMC meeting held on October 16 , we need to get on this , and let any other affilliated clubs to get on it as well. I will be emailing all the non restorers only clubs asking them to jump on the bandwagon and bombard the CMC with emails and letters. dont just whinge that we should have this ,, get off your arses and start writing !!

.3 Concessional licensing requirement for vehicles to be unmodified
Clubs were requested to advise the CMC if they had any interest in a concessional
licensing scheme for modified vehicles at the last meeting. But no feedback yet
received from any clubs. Extensive discussion. Some members took the position
that there is no place for concessional licensing for modified vehicles whilst others
thought that some modifications (further than currently allowed) should be permitted.
No position has been reached by the committee. It was re-iterated that the CMC
was only requesting feedback on this issue from members at this stage.
Post meeting note - The minutes of the last meeting stated
“It is noted that other states have schemes which allow concessional licensing of
modified vehicles. The committee will have an open discussion on this subject. Any
clubs which are interested should send their views in writing (email or postal) to the
CMC.”
ACTION – any member who has a view on this subject should write to the CMC (all
clubs).

Dear CMC Secretary;
I am writing to you to add my thoughts to the discussion on modified vehicles being allowed in to the concessional licensing scheme.

As a member of the FB/EK Car Club of WA and the owner of 2 close to 60 year old Holdens’, one modified and on full rego and the other one being built as a modified vehicle, I feel that modified vehicles deserve to be granted concessional licensing just as much as non-modified, the fact that these vehicles are being restored and driven is what is important whether modified or not.

Most of the eastern states have allowed modified vehicles onto their concessional licensing schemes; this has allowed more of these iconic vehicles of all brands to be driven and shown to the public which maintains an interest in our past.

Modifying of our vehicles has been going on in one shape or another since they were made this does not make them any less than a non-modified vehicle in fact I would hazard to say that due to the guide lines on modifying vehicles most of these vehicles are better than when first built.

Many of the vehicles would never have survived if it wasn’t for the fact they had no choice but to be modified , due to the scarcity and high dollar value of original parts if not modified some of these vehicles would never have been seen again.

Nearly all of the vehicles whether modified or not are not daily drivers and being added to the concessional licensing scheme would allow a lot more vehicles to be seen due to the fact that the licencing fees would be lower and therefore allow more vehicles to be on the road for shows and displays. This is especially true owing to the recent $100PA hike in licence fees and some enthusiasts , including many in our club, owning multiple vehicles.

I hope this helps with the decision regarding allowing modified vehicles onto the concessional licensing scheme.

Great template to work with. Time to get some emails out.

I heard ASMF WA had a productive meeting with Transport Department officials recently.
Great stuff, but if you WA guys want this to happen you have to throw your full support behind the lobbying party at every stage.
Clicking "Like" on a Facebook post won't accomplish much, 50+ emails/snail mails will start making people work for a living, a small response that builds and gets noticed.
SA took close to 20 years to get from "Restorer Rego" to Club Rego, don't let complacency make this the case for WA!
