Inner strengthening Sill Panel on Utes (EDIT)

Hi all,

(EDIT) Sorry I meant the inner strengthening panel on the commercial vehicles

Has anyone replaced the inner strengthening sills on a ute?
I have just removed the passenger sill panel to repair some bad rust.
Whats the best way to remake? I was thinking of using 2.5mm instead of the original 2.0mm and not worry about the vertical strengthening ridges.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated as i have to do both sides.

Thanks in advance

Hi Robbo
The FB EK commercials had the full length inner stiffener whereas the FE FC apparently didn't. Having the stiffener would be significantly stronger but whether you need it? If you are replacing the entire outer sill then it would be relatively easy to weld in a full length section before fitting up to the body but make sure you slow plenty of drainage and rust proofing.

Thanks Errol, that's the one I meant. I was wondering if it was needed for modern use as I am not going to use it fully loaded as originally intended.

Cheers

Followed up Phil's (oz ek) suggestion re post by resto nut. Found on the FE FC site. Seems there may be be a batch of inner sill panels available on a month or so. Here's a link to Facebook page:
