HJ-HZ Stub Axles

Gents,

I have read round the forums that some of you guys are using HJ-HZ stubs for the 1 inch drop. My question is that when using these stubs are you able to re-slot HR disc/calipers onto the HJ stub ? Or are you completely upgrading the brakes and stud pattern to HJ-HZ with the different stub? Is the spindle ? the same size ?

Brakes scare the shit out of me, couldnt live with myself if a screwed something up and misses got hurt because of it, so my knowledge is very limited as its just one area I wont touch.

Cheers

I know this isn't really answering your question but give Hopper Stoppers in Melbourne a call. I think they are in Hoppers Crossing.
I"m pretty sure they have a website that may give you the answers or give them a call on the phone.
Have a look online in white pages and I'm sure their phone number will be there.
Hope this helps,

Terry.

no the HR discs can't be used but if you want to keep early holden stud pattern H/KTG discs bolt on the H/QJZX stubs or get H/KTG stubs discs callipers this still gives the 1" drop but either way you will have to run 14" wheels
i may have some H/KTG stubs and discs for sale soon if interested

I saw a set of HQ rotors on ebay with early holden stud pattern for $480  , normal HQ rotors are only $88. I was thinking of going down this path but if it costs that much I'll forget it  ,

Yep Trev, its a lot of money difference considering the only difference is they have been drilled in the early Holden stud pattern.

Wonder if a call to DBA ( Disc Brakes Australia ) who make them would shed any light onto why they are so much dearer??.

Or is it someone in the line from manufacturer to retail sales counter that is profiteering from it??

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Thanks gents for all the info, very thankful for the help.

As it stands the van is running HR Discs and stubs with 14x6 5spoke dragways (early stud).

Spare parts from the sedan project are CRS HR End 2inch dropped spindles to suit HJ-HZ Braking and HQ Monaro polished calipers.

Sounds like I only need to get some HK-HT disc rotors (keep the spare HJ-HZ rotors to the side) and I will be able to throw the HQ dropped spindles and monaros calipers onto the HR front and still use the original 14x6 early stud 5spoke dragways !

Sounds like I owe you guys a drink !!! Much appreciated all thankyou :)
