Coming down accomodation hill onto the flat lands. Blanchtown on the Murray River is the next town.
Crossing the Murray on the Blanchtown Bridge
Over the Murray again on the Paringa Bridge near Renmark. The Paringa bridge is a counterweighted lift bridge built in 1927.
You can see the two concrete counterweights ahead either side of the section that lifts straight up.
Not far from the SA / VIC border is a fruit fly inspection station. All traffic is stopped coming into SA's riverland and checked. No fruit is allowed to travel into the area.
We are about 260k's from Adelaide here, 840 to go.

We stopped overnight at Hay, Gaz v8ek4us & Blacky also caught up with us at this point.
We had a meal at the pub and drinks back at the motel with some HD-HR lads heading the other direction to their Mildura Nats.
Headed off in the morning under a another blue sky.
Thought our weather luck was going to run out as we headed towards Narrandera, looked like rain ahead, Turned out to be fog only.
That cleared and we then headed to Junee for a catch up with Mark and some of the VIC crew.
Sure is nice country side in these parts, it made for a very pleasant drive all the way to Cowra.

Saturday morning sign in. Its great to catch up with everyone again, along with making new friends each year.
After the sign in, a bunch of us decided to head to Mt Panarama for a hot lap. I have never been to Bathurst, and I was just to close not to go.
Bootlegger caught up with us in Stewarts FB as he was travelling out to Cowra, he chucked a u turn and followed us out to the track

We all stopped at the top of the mountain for a look around and more pics.
In this picture, you can just make out the tyre bridge at the end of conrod straight, right in the center of the pic.
It gives you an idea of the elevation in the track. Much higher than I had imagined.

The trip home, I ended up doing it in one hit, 1100km's Cowra to Adelaide.
Here we are, already 300km's in, 800 to go.
Im enjoying some scenery while we had some to enjoy.
Because the hay plains are coming up quickly.
Hundreds of Km's of absolutely nothing, only broken by the Murrumbidgee river with the town of Hay on it.

The scenery doesn't get much better after the plains, just mallee scrub.
Finally get to the SA-VIC border
Over 800km's down, 280 to go.
Starting to lose light just outside Renmark, conveniently, low cloud on the horizon keeps it out of my eyes
Back over the Paringa bridge, just a few hours to go.
The Murray is just beautiful is SA
It got to dark to take photos after that, I did try to turn the camera to a no flash mode for some night shots, but I couldn't find it while driving.
I probably scared some drivers coming the other way when the flash went off while experimenting with the camera.
2500 Km's round trip including our diversion to Junee, and the trip to Bathust.
Hervey Bay is about that, one way only.

Enjoyed that...

I was picking dead parrots out of the front of my truck for a week from the Hay plains when I went to Para Hills to get Milkshake..
