Hydramatic info
G'day all went to look at nice ek special over the weekend with a hydramatic .it starts off fine in first changes in to second and hits neutral then when you back off the accelerator it changes up to third and struggles to get out of its own way .The car was cold when we took off but didnt get any better when it warmed up ?? Its a really nice car and pretty keen on it ,i was thinking of going down the Trimatic conversion line if i end up buying it apparently its a good conversion ? Also if i was to go Trimatic would a 3.36 diff be the best diff ratio ? Any idea's would greatly help Cheers Tony
Re: Hydramatic info
I have only driven one hydro EK and it was in perfect condition, the owner told me to get it go through the gears properly I had to floor it till it got into 3rd.
It was the only way it would behave properly.
The trimatic conversion in a great thing, I had a 3.36 diff in mine but it was a mildly worked motor, on a stock motor I would probably go for 3.55.

Re: Hydramatic info
Thanks Tim. I was hoping it may be an adjustment issue it would be good if it lasted a couple of months whilst i roadworthy it . Thanks again for that. It gives me a bit of hope cheers tony
Re: Hydramatic info
I used a HR tailshaft because the rear end was an LJ Torana one.adell'e 1969 wrote:Thanks Trev what tailshaft did u run in yours ? a later shaft cut down or changed the yolk and uni's on the fb/ek shaft cheers Tony

Re: Hydramatic info
Yep that was not a good thing i figured thats why im exploring the Trimatic conversion its a pretty nice Ek and if i fit a trimatic and a decent diff ratio it should be good reasonably cheap fix to get it cruisen again.
