EK Starter Motor

Hi everyone
My wife and I just recently purchased an EK Special sedan, very happy with it so far.
Unfortunately the starter motor has died completely. Solenoid is fine, its just the starter motor itself.
Have had a quick look online and can only seem to find the reconditioned ones on ebay for $350.
Is this quite expensive? Is it cheaper to get my old one reconditioned?
Thanks in advanced
Pete

I know how this sounds, but tap it with a hammer (yes, really) and see if it works. If so, then it's possibly just the brushes that need replacing.

If you need new brushes, you can get them here:

I've bought from these guys before and they're reliable.

Pulled the old starter motor out tonight, smells pretty burnt...I'm guessing that is not normal!
Will pull it apart on the weekend and have a good look at it.
Thanks for all your help! Looking forward to get more involved in the forum.
Cheers
Pete
