I'm going to get a friend of mine (owns sheetmetal workshop) to press up a battery tray for me in stainless and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in one as it makes sense to make a batch rather than just one at a time...

options are...
mild steel or stainless (stainless will cost more but will out live the car)
taller or stock height?
can have the tray base flat or pressed ribs to make battery sit off the flat base ( not such a drama with stainless)
can have non draining, hole only or hose barb/tube welded to u/s to allign with engine bay sheetmetal drain hole, whats prefered?
and most importantly what would you be prepared to pay for it as there is no point getting 50 made with all the fruit if no ome wants to pay more than say $20.

i will post up pics of the prototype once made. and some of fit so you can see it before commiting aanf $$$.

Took delivery of the new battery tray today
this one is 2mm stainless steel so it'll , pressed with drain lines and drain hole, fxing holes at ends and 1 at side.+ i also requested additional hole at side for battery retaining rod as per my old battery tray. Not sure if its stock hole or a later addition. Corners are rounded for fitting into stock heat guard but had them welded up full height at the sides to contain battery spills etc... i think it looks better than stock this way. Cant wait to get home and test fit. i think i'll file down the welds some more at the corners and give it a polish on the exposed faces...pity its hiding under a battery c's it sure is pretty.

Happy to make more for others wanting one....not sure of cost yet as will depend on quantity but if you want one please let me know and i'll order a batch to be made.
had this one made in stainless, but can also be made in steel (not sure why you'd want one in steel when stainless is an option)

unfortunately ran out of battery on phone an ddidn't get a photo of it in the car....i'll take photo of it installed next opportunity

Was going to make my own, but happy to get one made, if the price in reasonable.
So when can we find out how much ?????

Stainless trays $200 ea for one off or if I can get group order in of about 10 he'll do it for $150 each.
No cost difference for mild steel as it's all in the labour.
Would be heaps cheaper if you want it done without the welded corners ie just cut and fold.
I've seen others use a battery box instead.

Hi there, my father Sam Crupi has been making these battery boxes for 20+ years they are $40 + postage and are an exact copy of the original, they are pressed mild steel and painted black, he also makes the scuff plates from stainless steel, mudflap brackets etc give him a call on 03 58221379
