Can't help you with how much better ceramic coating is insulation wise but I do know heat wrap can promote surface rust pretty quickly   I ran it on my bike pipes once and would never use it again.

hi there searsy
cant tell you much about the heat wrap
but i have my extractors ceramic coated
24thousand ks latter they still look the same as they did when i built them
also no indication of paint damage to the engine bay
in my opinion they make a massive difference

I've got ceramic coated headers on my VE. It does stop a little bit of heat in the engine bay. They couldn't get the full chrome mirror finish, but they are like a shiny silver.
