I think it's $100 first visit and cheaper for subsequent visits.

Permits are about $40 last a couple of days?

It's been a while but a mate just did two cars

A permit costs $21 and lasts for 48 hours. Inspections are $85 ish and it costs that much per inspection now. If you are going to go to Welshpool best thing is to be there by 6am , they open at 7:30 other wise you will sit in line fo rup to 3 hours waiting. The other option these days is to book a time but Welshpool only operates on a first come first served basis so you will have to go to Midland , Kelmscott or Warwick if you want to book a time.

I too have family in Busselton.

Went there with my uncle, inspector said 'you are from Perth you need to have your car inspected in Perth'.

My mechanic is now an inspector - Ang Automotives Myaree.

He is far more realistic than the DPI inspectors.

Noneof them are likely to be slack - those days are pretty much gone unfortunately . I took my ute to Kalgoorlie ot licence it , only so I could try to have the original plates reissued but it was a waste of time . The bloke who inspected it and I have been mates for years but he wouldnt let me off with any bodgeys - if they get caught then they lose their licence.

I have to do this stuff on quite a regular basis and is almost down to a fine art!
Seriously though, just book it in and it will cost the prices Blacky quoted to take it there once.
After it's had the first inspection, you will get a work order.
This will list any parts of the vehicle not up to standard.

If the list you get is quite small and easy to fix, you will have a couple of days to have the vehicle re-inspected....
......they will tell you the maximum time frame depending on the vehicle's faults.... though the $21 permit to drive the vehicle
only lasts for a 48 hour period.
If you get it inspected, repaired, re-inspected and passed within 48 hours......that one payment is all it will cost!

If the list is too complicated, or requires some time to rectify and falls outside that allowable time frame, you will have to
pay the $85 fee again..........and the $21 to drive it back as well.

Don't forget the little extras ..........once licensed you will need enough coin to pay minimum 6 months registration,
stamp duty (insurance if you want it) and purchase new number plates for the vehicle as well.

From there..............it's all happy motoring :D

Finally.....the advice from AustMod is very wise, they do stick to this rule quite hard and fast.............
Went there with my uncle, inspector said 'you are from Perth you need to have your car inspected in Perth'.
All the best......Bob.
