I have started a project rebuilding, and I mean that literally, an FB Holden Special sedan which my wife and kids have named Phoebe (from FB of course). I have read a lot of posts here and got a lot of ideas for the project. It came from my Brother in laws back paddock where it has been sitting quietly rusting for years and has quite a bit of rust,some in unusual places but some of the normal places are good.

At the moment I am rebuilding the front subframes for it. The originals were completely stuffed but I picked up some better ones locally which I am rebuilding. I am planning on fitting a UC Torana front end with a warm 202 and TH700 4 speed auto trans.

A few people have said I'm crazy tackling a project that needs so much work but I am up for the challenge and I want to teach my 4 boys something and show that what you can do if you put your mind to it.

Perhaps you could look at changing your settings in Google Blogs to allow access for the general puplic to view your updates

Thanks for the comments guys. I have unlocked the blog. I will post up some here I just haven't got to it yet. I've had the OldHolden Shed for years and have other stuff there apart from the FB, I started the blog so I can give my kids access and allow them to contribute to the blog too, the whole job is meant to be a project with the kids and I'm planning on about 4 years to do it.

I've done a few cars up and some significant rust repairs before but nothing this ambitious!

Yep, all those bullet holes are genuine, no stick ons here!!

I am currently welding in the side panel where the battery tray used to be and in the next few weeks I will be fitting the Torana front end.

I need to get the front end fitted so I can bring the car into the shed before fire ban season.

How did the subframe legs fit mate?
Were they rares ones?

The subframe legs fitted fine. I bought them from Rare's but when you peeled off the Rare's stickers they had stickers saying made by Taylor's replacement panels underneath.

Thats probably why they fitted alright then

Here's some more photos of my repairs to the inner guard where it was rusted out under the battery tray. I chopped a section out of the left hand side of the old one and I'm welding it into the right hand side of the new one. A little bit of splitting and reshaping involved but its coming together.





I'll post up some more photos later when its all welded in. I am oxy hammer welding this which is good practice for doing the floors.
