have just finished tidying up an old coolaride sunvisor ready to put on my newly painted roof of my EK, do I need some sort of rubber gromet kinda things to fasten it so I don't get leaks in my flash new roof? if so, where do i get them or is there an alternative? cheers

Dont know if new ones are avalible, but just thin sheet rubber
carefully cut to shape would do the trick.

you may have already sorted the problem but what I have done is bought some 2.5mm x 50mm wide neoprene rubber strip from Clark rubber & cut to shape - advantage with the neo rubber is you can drill holes - which you can't do with ordinary rubber, also used 'nutserts' for the roof/pillar & used a hex head nut to fit
Nutserts are very similar to pop rivets but have an internal thread to screw the bolt into & pulled up with a special tool, which is the same as factory fitted

are the nutserts readily available?

what is the special tool - is it required to fit the nutserts?

after drilling holes for mounting
I used my touch-up paint and made sure
there was no bare metal in and around the holes drilled
then just used stainless screws
with a little bit of silicone
on the threads and under the screw head
screwed in wiped off excess silicone with prepsol
then brush touched the screw heads
cant see how it could leak

yeah oldgmh they should be but may also known as a rivet nut, the tool works the same principle as a rivet gun & can be bought but around $70 - the place I go to hires the gun - you can rig up a jig but is a bit fiddly - places like Blackwoods or similar should have them
