Hey all,

I've just done a VN commodore 2 speed wiper conversion on my EK.

Everything works great but they're not parking where they should. They have full range, they go from the very bottom of the windsreen to completely vertical (90 degree range). And both speeds work great but when you turn them off they park about 4 inches above the bottom of the windscreen. (Goes all the way down but then kicks back up).

Any one got an idea on how to fix this?? Some how make them park that bit earlier? Shouldn't be in the linkages, wiper arm positioning etc because the working range is fine...?

I will be interested in the out come of this as I have done the vn wiper conversion but I don't have a screen in so it is a bit hard to work out where they are going to park but I am happy with the conversion and I am shaw that it wont be a real problem try brett_f on the fe/fc forum he may be able to help or one of the other fe/fcers may be able to help

so they park just not in the right spot ?

undo the retaining nut and remove the arm from shaft move wipers to spot need and reconnect it ( the bracket is a tapered spline and will go on any postion)

If ya do that they will go off the bottom of the 'screen - need to adjust the park contact somehow.

There's an adjustment on most the electric wiper motors that determines the park position.

Let me poke my nose into the interweb for a while and I'll get back to you...

OK, 1st question.

There should be a woven copper cable or strip coming from the wiper motor. This is the grounding for the 'auto park' and needs to have a good path to earth for it to work properly.

So, check number 1; has this cable/strip been connected to the chassis properly?

Like I said earlier I have done the same conversion I don't have a windscreen so what I did was put the wipers in the park position then put a bit of masking tap around the wiper post with a little tag where they would position them self, then turned on the wipers and they came back to the correct position BUT when I stated them again the drivers side continued down before it started to wipe the screen, passenger side worked as it should so what I ended up doing is position the arm that is connected to the motor the Z shaped arm pointing to the drivers door approx I left everything else the same if you wish to P.M. me a land line phone No and a good time to ring( I get land line phone calls free ) I will explain a bit better It may help but it may not. you should have the strap that MeFB spoke about connected to a good earth

I think ekdave1962 is correct as he is talking about the crank linkage on the back of the wiper motor,not the wiper arms that the blades are attached to.From memory the VN wiper motor crank is mastersplined and the spline or the crank arm will have to be modified to fit correctly.

Gotcha - I thought he meant take the wiper arm off the wiper post spline. I stand corrected.

G'day guys,

Havn't been on in a while so playing catchup with some of the posts i never got back to..

Appreciate ya help, what ya's said was right where i put the arm on the back of the wiper motor shaft was sitting around 11 oclock..
Undid it, and placed it directly horizontal with it's mounting position (say 9 oclock) and it was spot on, parked perfect

Will try and get some photos together shortly and make a post for this conversion to clarify a few things a little more.
