remove chrome

Hi all
What would the best way to strip chrome wheels so i can paint them??? or could i prime over the chrome and paint them????

If you sandblast the chrome the paint will stick.

Take 'em down to your local chrome platers and get 'em to throw 'em in their pickling tank

The chrome platers charge almost as much to strip the chrome off as to rechrome.

try using the electrolysis http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... is#p122834

Havn't tried it on chromed parts so not sure if it will work or not.

Really ? I had the bumpers for my '64 Chev done for $50 :D

I painted some bumper bars for a guy and the plater here charged him $ 300.

I had a HJ Kingswood which I primered the chrome bumpers, then painted them (acrylic). Last time I saw the car was 10 years after the bumpers were painted, and the paint had still stuck

That was a thought i was hoping would work but thought you would have to rough the surface up for the paint to stick to..... :?:
