New paint, check.
Clean properly prepped rubber channels in all doors, check.
Brand new rare spares rubbers fitted as per instructions, check.
Doors impossible to close, check.
One can of rubber magic spray later doors can slam close, check.
A few weeks later wash car, inside of car full of water from all doors and super heaps from the tailgate, awesome, glad I spent so much time and money.
Everything seems sealed when in the car looking around, but obviously not when waters involved. Has anyone else had this problem??

I am sorry to hear that, can't offer any help only advise on washing your car.

I wouldn't hose these old cars down, just a bucket of water and a chamois is what I do.

Though, for those reading the post with original rubbers ... I'd leave your original rubbers in !!!

My drivers door rubber was ruined so I replaced it......took 2 years for door rubber to settle down so the door didn't have to be slammed.

Have to replace my boot rubber soon, not looking forward to it.....leaving the rest of my rubbers as is.

I also hear front and rear screens always leak after being replaced.

Geez Guys , just spent a small fortune on new rubbers , your starting to worry me

I second that , I am about to spend a fortune as well , it would be good to hear peoples cunning tricks in this area

Hopefully theres a trick to it, was fine with the old shit ones, that fell apart when removing for paint, not looking forward to slamming my doors for the next two years though, thats a bit rediculous, scares the crap out of my lil kids in the back!

With regard to the windscreen rubbers (throught I did use original GMH ones from wreckers mostly)
We used to soak them in hot water to make them soft
I once used my moms washing tub and hot water but wrapped in towells should work.
Makes them very soft and they go in easy with the cord not damaging them.
I used vasoline to help the cord along and then the bostik to seal the window and it always worked.

My mate pete who's doing up his FB told me that he got O'Brians out and they did his for him cause he was to lazy to do it himself.
I haven't rang them to check through.

I did read on a website that if you bag and soak rubbers with something like a lubricant they can be rejuvenated..can't find the bloody thing now..rats
