Hi all,
Hope everyone had a good and safe Christmas.
Just thought I'd post a few photo's of the engine fitted to the sedan.
I got my front end and steering back from Rods Racks, I can't recommend him and his products highly enough.
I feel a bit spoilt building this car using his products. Everything is just straight forward, bolt in with no stuffing around to get to fit. And it all fits like it surposed to.
I am making my own rear gearbox mount and extractors. There yet to be done. Making the radiator fit should be lots of fun also. I've got a VY commodore radiator that I'm using. That takes up all of the front plus some.
Will keep posting photos as it progresses.

Hey Mal,
Where do you get the time to progress? Looking very good!
The oil filter looks close can you get it off? I am going to my fathers this week so I will look for the guard piece if your still interested.

Greg, yes I'm still after the front guard section if you can find one for me.

I'm probably a bit lucky with my work, as I work all different rotating shifts every week and most of my days off are during the week when the kids are at school and the wifes at work, so I can potter around in the shed undisturbed.

The oil filter is close but I still have a good 15mm clearence. I did have to remove some of the subframe lip though. I was starting to get concerned when I started to fit the motor but when it sat on the mounts it JUST missed everything.
I think you would have to be a game person not to trial fit something like what I'm doing. I'm going to fit all the running gear and get it running before I strip it down and start painting.

The Mustang in the background is a 67. There are pictures of it posted in the other cars section of this site under Sunday car.

i must say you are luck with the filter, i can only assume the ecotec motor has the filter in a slightly different spot to the VN-VR engine as i didn't have as much luck with the filter fitting!!

Actually I have a VN-VR oil filter on the ecotec motor, as I was told that was needed for clearence problems.
The ecotec oil filter sits lower than the vn.
So hows the ute coming along.
We must be nearly in store for some update photo's from you aren't we.

Looking good, I've been toying with this setup for future use in my EK when the red gets tired. Would make a great daily driver. I'll be following your buildup keenly.

Wow that filter is really close, can you change it in the car or do you have to pull the engine out?

PS Aren’t rotating shifts great for projects, used to do them 20 years ago when I had a job.

oh well, either way, i have spent alot of money on the remote filter setup so its all good

as for updates, have a look in my post, i wont clutter yours with my progress.

Hi all, been busy in the shed again.
In the last week I've been making a new crossmember for the gearbox tunnel and rear gearbox mount. Also made the lower radiator mounting plates.
Moving ahead slowly but surely.

What size rims and profile tyres are they pictured on the front ?

The rims are 17 x 7 with 205 /45/17. There the wheels off my Mustang that I was just trying on for size and clearence checks. I'm still using 17's though with 17 x 7 on front and 17 x 8 on the rear only in a different style.

Im guessing , is it chev bolt pattern P76 disks ?
