Hey guys, I'm going to go pick up my F'ing Beautiful ute on saturday that I bought on ebay it had some photos of some rusty spots under the paint (front guards) and a close up of what I think was a door, I wondering what other common areas rust that I should look at.

Ok are you sure you want the list...
Floors, rear area and inside cabin.
Sills (look underneath and behind them)
Front Subframe
Front Gaurds - Lower sections behind the wheel arch, tops of the gaurds near windscreen, and headlight peaks.
Lower sections of the doors - inside and out
The plenum chamber (under the dash and behind the vent near the windscreen)
Lower Rear quarters
Quarter panels behind the doors along the seam just above the bodyline
Spare wheel door
Around the lower section of the windscreen (may need to remove to find more!)
In the door pillars (hinge side more so)
I think thats basically it, I'm sure someone will add the bits I missed, all of which are repairable but some at more of a cost than others...

Dont forget about around the petrol tank. They really really suffer from rust under the wooden tray floor. Once the tarp is off then the water just lays there and that's the end for most of them. Hopefully yours won't be too bad.

sounds bad but expect to fix alot of rust good utes are few and far between, that way if you are lucky enough to have scored a reasonably good one it's a bonus

I think that's about it DR...were looking at my wagon?

another spot is in, around and under drip rails and just general pin holes anywhere and everywhere...
Alison...have a look at the Rebuild of Old Timer...it had rust...anything it just about fixable given time, $ and someone who knows what they're doing...

hey Stewart, yeah I just finished reading over your fix up of old timer, pretty cool you tracked it down.

I'm prepared to find rust thus why I asked where to find it, I much rather fix up rust then see a nice vehicle go to waste.
