Hi all,
Some people liked my road trip pics so I thought I'd load a few from my trip in texas USA
a couple of years ago. Got my whole family to all go over. Could have bought the best FB or EK with what I spent - but It was worth every cent.
We did 100's of miles on the ole Route 66 which was an immigrant road from Chicago to the growing city of LA
many building were from the 20's & 1930's. many left to just fall down, Some restored
cheers

More Road trip pics. I just wanted to see Route 66 in Texas as it is sort of in the middle and untouched. Took 100's of pics!

More Route 66 in Amarillo Texas
"Hey, you ain't from around these parts! Where y'all from? "
I found Texans to be most friendliest in the states. very polite. Especially on old Route 66 which is away from the touristy areas.

Those photos are amazing! I can't wait to drive Route 66, hopefully in the next couple of years
Also, the Conoco Tower is Ramone's paint shop in 'Cars'
Looks like a great trip, thanks for posting!

Sweet photos!
We're heading to the US in September and will be driving some of the old 66. Leaving Vegas and joining 66 @ Kingman, across Nevada, overnight detour to stay @ the Canyon, and then back onto 66 through Flagstaff and on.
Should be a great time.

Awesome mate! Its always nice to go to a country that likes Aussies! I tried to stay on the old road as much as possible.
We like to tear things down in Australia, but in the US, they seem to be happy to leave whole structures like motels, roadhouses, gas stations etc. to just fall down in time.
Also, when we make an old single lane highway into a divided road highway, we use the old road and re-condition it to be one part of the divided highway. As for Route 66, (And the US in general) they just build a new divided highway nearby leaving the old road to just fall apart outside large towns & cities, w saw heaps of old abandoned Roadhouses, Gas stations, Motels, Tourist trap shops all along the road. When the road moved, whole towns died.
