Hey Macca, if you plan to run a HR diff, why not use a LJ Torana diff ? It means you have to grind off all the mounting brackets and weld on some saddles, but you end up with a diff thats 50mm narrower so you can fit deeper dish rims.
Took me about 4 hours to do my diff.

Hey Trev. Great job, cleaning out the sand - NOT. Having said that, now its in primer it is so much easier to see what has to be done. I took the front subframe off this morning to start repairing the firewall, not as bad as I first thought. Regards, Steve

Steve, I had my FB wagon sandblasted a while back, it took me about 3 days to get the sand out! I thought anyway untill I started to weld up the rusted parts (and there was alot more in my car than yours by the look of it) I've had to rebuild the bottom of just about all the pillars, 4 X floor pans, rear quarters, in the back around the feul tank, along the back under the tailgate, and so on

.
A couple of taps with the hammer and even more sand has come from hidden crevaces

.
Look forward to reading more updates! It will keep me motavated

great job with the sand blasting and the primer. One question tho being only new to the game how much did it cost to get the sandblasting done? Just weighing up the options for my beast.

I was very sceptical of getting it sandblasted, I have been told that different size grit can damage body panels. I got mine done by Active Sandblasting at Somersby on the Central Coast for $400.00. I didnt get the body panels done on the advice of my panel beater / painter. He believes that the sandblasting job is the best he has seen. Now that its done, I am over the moon with the result. The only drawback is cleaning up the mess

, but it was well worth the effort. Regards, Steve

Hi classic, my sand blast job cost $650 but the guy sand blasted the door jams and edges and then plastic bead blasted the flat pannels (not as harsh and no warping

).
Weighing up the cost against acid dipping ( I think it cost chev 283 about $2000 for acid ) but it looked like acid came out alot cleaner ( but youll have to ask him about that!)

thanks guys. had a go a couple months back with a set of rims i sourced which had been preaty weathered but come up preaty good. Used a sandblasting tool my dad had for his air compresser only problem i found was the pressure wasnt consistent and took bloody ages to do just one rim!

Ill put up some pics of before n after in the next day or so.
