Thanks for the Pics!
That's our Grey Wagon parked up there with our local Car Club Display.
Just had the windows tinted and the front lowered 2 1/2 inches.
Swapped the diff to a 3.08 ratio last week and am tossing up whether to respray it after winter. (still has original paint)
Was going to have the EH Convertible there, but by the time we got the drag car and Brock Race Replica Commodore set up.....ran out of time to go home and get it :(
That FJ Panno got my vote for the day, absolutely stunning.

It was a great day and had a good crowd, it is getting bigger and better every year.
Might have to remember the camera next time
Cheers.............Bob.

Thanks for the pic's guys.
Nice wagon there Bob.
Unfortunately we were in Esperance that weekend with the karts.
It was worth it tho, the young fella has taken the lead in the series.

Hi Bob

Just a question about the 3.08 diff. How is it? Some on here say this ratio is to tall for a Grey? What do you think? I have one and am keen to try it. Interested in your opinion.

Regards

Brian

I'll let you in on a little secret Brian..........
That bog standard looking Wagon of ours actually has a 186, 4 speed and HR disc front/diff fitted.
The 3.55 was just stupid for us who live in the country.
We needed a good highway diff, so swapped to a 3.08.
If you mainly do city driving, I would not bother fitting the taller 3.08.
My brother has restored a sweet EK sedan that has all the original 138 Grey, Hydramatic and 3.55 diff...........
Image
and I can understand why people would warn against the 3.08 ratio  His old grey powered beast definitely needs a high ratio (3.55) to get off the mark, but is not designed to sit at 65-70 MPH average top speed :( :(
The RED motor and the 3.08 comfortably delivers a strong take off and highway speeds/economy.
The best I can recommend is to fit the 3.08 if you already have one, and go for a drive.
If you like it, keep it.
If it's no good.....on sell it
I've swapped as many as 4 diff centres in a single day sussing out different ratios.
It's not hard or expensive if you can do it yourself, or get a mate to help you if not confident.

It does make a big difference to a vehicle and well worth trying out.

Brian I changed the diff in my EK with stock Grey(a goer) from 3.89 to 3.55 and its good
for the highway & around town but it fades a bit on fast highway hills
I wouldnt go any more than that , unless you have plans for the Grey, ora Red

Yep, the same with mine, stock 138 with a 3.55 diff.
Works well, but generally stick to 90 on the freeway.
