Finally I have gotten back to the front end of the car and have finished re-building the two carbs going on my grey. Now comes the fun part of linking them together. I know American Auto Parts along with others have a linkage kit to suit but do they fit the dozens of varying intake designs produced my umpteen different manufacturers?

I have heard of others who have had success with a spring operated setup, doing away with the shaft and all. We are considering ditching the whole linkage system across the firewall and fitting up a throttle cable. One issue is the the go pedal pushes rather than pulls but we think we have a solution for that.

I used the single "shaft between the carbs" approach with the "W" clips. Have a look at the pic below. I think the kit is a Redline Hardiman one.

I have a warneford twin carb set up on my grey, and I at first used the single shaft with w clips for a while until I had a dose of shit fuel last nationals.
Terry and I pulled apart my carbs in the caravan park car park, and cleaned them out and got us going for the rest of our trip.
The biggest problem with the single shaft and w clips is you cannot drain the fuel bowls and get to the main jets, as the shaft is in the way.
And also after removing the shaft and clips, and fitting them a few times they become a bugger to keep aligned and also tight.
I now run a 5/16 rod, with brass exteral linkages, which I made together with parts from my local speed shop.
the brass fittings look old school and I'm happy cause you can fine tune them and they don't play up.

this is only my opinion through my own trials and errors.

My initial thought was exactly that, link the two carby's together and minimise the amount of linkages, but I would rather have access to the jets.

Looking at your pics Blacky, the EJ has an entirely different pedal box setup. I currently have mine in about 20 pieces ready for painting this afternoon. I will piece it all together tomorrow and see if that Mitsubishi Express van cable setup will work for me.

Back to the drawing board for me.
