An EK oldie but a forum newbie

Post by billbrack »

Hi guys, did I make the deadline? Trev, thanks for your ultimatum, you've turned a lurker into a poster. I've driven EKs since I was 19 and I've got the anecdotes to prove it... I've been dazzled and inspired by what so many of you have achieved with your cars. I hope you'll all accept me as a humble student of the Holden Way.
Some of you have seen my car - hi to Steve Jackson and family, Andrew (Stygian) and all at NSW owners club who've made me welcome. Work and uni have gotten in the way lately but I hope to make it to another club run soon guys.
Here's a few pics of my sled:

Looks like a nice car Patrick
What's the actual colour? Cataract or Montana grey?
interesting how it looks different in varying light

Thanks FBeing, yeah it's Cataract Grey. As you say it's a deceptive shade, quite blue in certain lights and almost white in others.
GM factory 'flip paint' almost... :) The car was resprayed 15 years ago, it's held up quite well. Interior paint is original.
When I got this car I thought I'd paint it aqua blue - my fave EK colour - but now I really like the factory colour and I'm keeping it (cue sighs of relief from the restorers...).
Hi Cal, thanks for the decent size pics - I haven't quite got to grips with the resizing issue yet.
There's been a few updates since those shots were taken - crystal headlights, clear rear lenses, blue dots, a few more stickers...

Nice EK, Patrick! 8) 8)
It reminds me of Tony (Brian Westlake ) Dahhl's EK he had as a young bloke (before he turned to the "Dark Side" and bought F O R D's).
Your ride height is perfect too. 8)

Scotty.

Thanks Mick-Hett! I think I got lucky with the light in that shot. Actually it needs a wash so I took those pics at dusk  The car looks better in low light, a bit like its owner lol

Scotty - thanks, I'm happy with the height at the front but looking to get it down another inch or so at the back... No such thing as too low in my book.

Hey Andrew, congratulations on your recent nuptials! How's your car coming, nearing completion I hope?

My car goes as well as ever except for an increasingly loud clattering noise from around the torque convertor - oops, sorry, I mean Fluid Coupling  so I'm pretty sure the old Hydramatic's on its last legs. I've got a Trimatic and one of Roger Hancock's fitting kits, we'll see whether I get round to fitting it before the old tranny forces the issue by dumping its guts all over the road
