Hi all,

Is there anyone out there with the know how on welding fuel tanks.
I've got a new XB Falcon tank for my sedan that someone thought they would drain the fuel from via screw driver through the bottom.
The tank hasn't had fuel in it for some time, there is no fume smell from the tank at all.

I've heard of people filling them with water and so on, but has anyone done such an exercise and not blown them selves up.

Is it safe to weld???????????

Cheers

i welded some rust holes up in my fb tank, i washed it out with water about 1000 times and let it sit for a few weeks before hand, all went well, and im still alive :D
leave the sender out and cap off! if it does catch fire less chance of explosion
but it can be done :D

they reckon you fill the tank with carbon dioxide before welding but check with a decent engeneeriog firm

if it's just a screwdriver hole you can solder it or most radiator shops can usually do fuel tank repairs
