14 x 6 Tasmans on an EK

Post by Stygian »

Hey forum,
Has anybody got any advice about fitting 14 x 7 Tasmans to an EK with stock front and rear ends?
I did a trial fit with some rims that had 185/75/14s on them and the offset looked fine. I want to put on 195/75/14s on them. Will these foul anything? Car hasn't been lowered (yet).

It really all depends on the offset and if a 185 is allright the 195 should'nt make that big a difference, but if you are unsure and reckon they'd be no good I could help take them off your hands for you, being the kind caring soul I am.

Worth a shot... Should look good just check the basics, Rosco had a post on wheel offsets which is worth a read if your not 100% Stygian.

Thanks DR. We put them another EK and found that they weren't fouling at all. I'm going to take them to Neales Wheels in Strathfield to have them checked out anyway (and get some Tasman wheelnuts).

Whaddaya reckon of this?

Thanks for the comments - wide whitewalls and lowered it is! :D I guess the car wouldn't have looked so high if I had taken the jack out before taking the pic
That van is awesome.

Seriously, I've wanted a set of Tasmans for a long time, but I didn't think I would be able to get my hands on a set without paying a fortune. I think they're going to go nicely with my polished triple Strombergs and frogmouths  All I need now is a Maxrob steering wheel...
Just dropped the Tasmans off at Neales Wheels. The offset was fine but the bolt holes were drilled right out sometime previously. Should be ready by Tuesday then they're off to Shane at Electroplating Technologies in Queanbeyan.

How's this for a score DR? When I'm in the shed working on my car, I'm the one that usually has jump over the fence to the Tyrepower next door to turn the air compressor on. I did this on Sunday and saw, underneath a whole pile of truck tyres, a Tasman wheel! I ran into Dougal, the proprietor, in town later that morning. I asked him about the Tasman and told him that I just bought a set and would like the one he has as a spare. He said he would holler over the fence when he got back and we would sort something out. He kept his word, we moved the tyres, and sure enough it was a 14 x 7 Tasman (no hubcap though). I ask him how much he wanted and he said I could have it for nix! :D

What size tyres will safely fit on a 7inch rim? It was talked about some time back but I can find where!

I read that a 195 can go on, seems a bit skinny to me, I have 215/75/14 on my 7 inch rims :D .
