138 Exhaust system...

Post by sponge_designs »

Evening all,

I thought what better way to hit the nail on the head first go, then ask what style of exhaust system everyone is running on there 138?

I will be running twin Strombergs and extractors that collect into a 2" pipe, from there I am open to opinions. I love the look of twin exhausts but I'm thinking it will be to much exhaust and not enough back pressure.

So what's everyone running?

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt, I liked the idea of the twin so I ran a single 2 1/4" to just over the rear axle then split it in two 2" to get the look.
I too am running twin carbs and extractors, works well :D .

You just answered my question! I was going to ask what muffler set up you were running!

I am considering splitting the system at the extractors and running twin pipes the full length.

On the other hand a nice stainless exhaust will finish off the underside but cost would rule out the above set up!

I do have a muffler but it's a straight through design, it sounds good but gets a drone at certain speeds around 60 to 70 kph, which doesn't bother me.
My set up cost $400, that included welding on flange plates to the extractor join and the split into 2 section as-well, so it would be easy to remove if I wanted to, Trev 8) .
