Two speed from Ken on the EK, and stock EK on the FB which is fast enough.

I found my ExtaKool electric with a 2 speed switch to be good enough - but I don't drive in the rain anymore (where possible) and have fitted wiper bullets so it doesn't get used any more.

I found the biggest problem was that one of the wiper arms had a stretched spring so it wouldn't wiper much water off the screen. However, besides this easily fixed problem, it worked well enough :)

Same as Trev  - 2 speed wipers from Ken McLean on the EK (good product, and a great guy to deal with), and stock electric EK wipers on the FB.

Ken Mclean (from the FE/FC forum) does a changeover service on EK wiper units. You send him your baseplate and arms, and he sends back a wiper motor, harness plug, 2-speed switch and modified baseplate/arms. Comes with good instructions, and bolts straight in. Wiper switch looks like the original one (from memory, you refit the original knob). Can only be done on certain EK motors though.

I bought one from Ken in March this year for $85.

Ken did not require my old motor and sent me everything including new motor and switch.

I contacted Ken via the FE FC site - his email address is kenamclean@gmail.com

GUys,

u already have everything u need.

you could either put a dropping resistor on your ek motor and use a 2 speed switch.. easy.

or just get a VN - VT preslite motor. will fit straight up to your base and use a aftermarket switch.

the most important bits are the rotating linkages.

for a commo motor, weld the splined shaft to the rotating linkage..

simple.

Ed,
I like the idea of VN-VT Conformadore... nice!

Not so sure about the resistor though. When I was doing the EK wipers, I tried to meet the NSW RTA Vehicle Standards Information Sheet Number 6 (to let me slot in the V8). I had to have a wiper speed faster than 45 cycles per minute... the EK was marginal (maybe my motor was tired :D... should have threatened it with a BFH). Because I couldn't meet 45 cycles per second, I had to have two speed windscreen wipers with a fast speed of at least 45 cycles per minute and a slow speed of at least 20 cycles per minute. Going the resistor route would have given me two speeds, but the low speed even slower than original EK (maybe my logic was wrong, but this is why I went for Ken's wipers).

yeah the commo motors are dirt cheap and plentiful... i tried a couple of different setups before using one, but I went stupid and used a negative switched commo column switch which meant i had to use relays.

there is a good switch that one of the FE FC guys has discovered too.

Hope no one minds me jumping in here, but I have the same problem. I just need the big nylon cog to suit an EK. Any Ideas? Thanks. Davy.
