Double Trouble

G’day Fellas,
It’s been a while since I last posted and a lot has happened since then so I decided to start a new thread. I’ve now moved from Karratha to Margaret River although I spend most of the time in Perth or in the Pilbara for work.
I’ve set up my shed and now I’m into it. I’ve got two vehicles that I’m going to work on simultaneously. A FB and an EK, so suppose you could say I’ve got a foot in each camp. The FB is going to be restored back to as close to original condition as I can get it and the EK will be modified so I guess I’m sitting on the fence here as well. The EK currently has a 173 motor, 4 speed box with HR disc brakes. I’m planning to replace the red motor with a worked grey, diff & box but keep the discs using the theory that if you speed them up you need to slow them down and yes lower it as well. I’m keen to keep any modifications to the period though, sort of old school I guess.

So far I’ve started the strip and discover phase. I’ve uncovered a few ugly rust spots but pretty much standard to what I’ve seen on this forum. Being a Surveyor roving around the Pilbara I’ve managed scavenge a fare amount of parts from carcases strewn far and wide. At one stage I had 6 of the bloody things in various states of decomposition in the back yard. When I left Karratha I filled a 20ft sea container of parts so I should be pretty right for bits & bobs hopefully.

Anyway that’s probably enough for the moment. I’ll keep you all posted on the progress hopefully a little more frequently now I’m sorted a bit better.
