How do I get an EH steering wheel off????

My chev steering wheel comes off really easy. But I cant work out this holden one...
The horn doesnt work
but I cant see any screws or anything on the other side. I was going to try and get the centre emblem off but I dont want to break it..... yet

The plastic horn cap pops off, but you must be careful removing it (if it's any good) normally fingernails can get under it or a very thin flat knife (a blunt razor blade?) be careful and DON'T use a screwdriver. It is a metal spring clip around the plastic that holds it in.

Thanks for that smooth. Got the cap off (not with my nails!)
BUT, after undoing the nut in the middle, I though the whole wheel should pull off?? It wont...

Steering wheel puller! Or rubber mallet / fists (or forearms) and bang either side from behind till it pops....

.......and leave the nut screwed on a couple of turns if you are pulling the wheel off with both hands because when it lets go from the spline it will hit you in the head otherwise (yes,its happened to me
)
.......or find a small puller and get it off that way but again leave the nut so its level with the thread on the end of the shaft otherwise the puller can damage the steering shaft thread and you will have a shipload of trouble getting the nut back on without cross threading.

Why not? Did you get nervous and chew them all off? LOL
Yes, you are best to use a steering wheel puller. Super Cheap Auto should have them for under $20.00 and yes you should leave the nut on at least three full turns as you can damage the threaded area of the steering shaft.

Girlfriend has the fingernails, finally got put to some use!
Seems everything needs its own tool so I'll just try the rubber mallet first, and yeah leaving the nut on a bit is a good idea!

Very good point a must do - Leave the Nut on a few turns!!!!!!!!
When I had my EH I pulled the sports wheel off to put the original back on and had the same result and a nice bump on the old forid.

Haha poor bugger. I got it off with the steering wheel puller easy. Ticked it off the list of things to do

steering wheel pullers are pretty much priceless with the time they save you.
if its separating 2 things from one another you want done, get one.
i used one yesterday on my front end to get the tie rods off.
