hi all, I know this question has been asked b 4, but just wanted to double check....

looking at getting white walls for ute. I believe the better Tyre size is the 185/80/13, because its the closest to the original ply Tyre spec????

but any feed back on the 185/70/13 ?????? I understand the sizes & in theory the smaller side wall makes the engine work harder on freeways??? but is this true???? its just coz the 185/70/13s r $100 cheaper???? but I would rather pay the extra for not working motor hard on freeway, but is that really true????

I had the same issue, and ended up going for the 80's. If your'e running a stock diff ratio the 70's will make the car rev a fair bit higher.

From 185/80/13 down to 185/70/13
So when your speedo reads 70mph, you're actually travelling at 65.84mph
Nearly 6% slower, there for your engine would have to work 6% harder to do the same speed as the 80 series tyre

The taller the tyre the less RPM you pull. In simpler terms.

great, thanks fellarz... it was the answer I was looking for. thanks a million... I just checked my tyres on the EJ.. 185/75/13.... I always wondered why my speedometer was out???? DOH!..... .so thanks Trev, u r a mathematician!!!
