Well, good news today. Rims fit.

Pic of nice new discs to go on refurbished callipers. They are the ones with spacer in between the two halves to fit the wider XU1 discs. The discs that came with the front end were too thin for the widened XU1callipers and would have failed once the pads wore a bit as the calliper pistons were already well out of the cylinder because of the wrong disc width for the calliper. A trap for the unwary

.
Barney should stop now ok I hope.

Nice looking rotors Brett. Can I beg a photo of clearance to top LCA balljoint and or tie rod end?

Hey Brett from the picture the caliper looks pretty close and I thought mu VT caliper upgrade was close, or is it just the angle of the photo.
Because I'm running the dunnydore rims I had to bend my steering arms to get them away from the inner edge of the rim slightly

Yeah it is close (about 6mm away) and while its not a problem it may be if/when wheel weights are added. We'll see. Those callipers are designed for 13 inch wheels so fingers crossed.

That is heaps. Steering arms don't look HR. You want it close to get legal front track we ith 6 inch rims. Thanks Brett. Interested fod the van.

Those rims look quite flat, you want to be careful they don't DECREASE the track , you can come out , but you cant go in ......

Thanks for giving me something else to worry about Blacky

.
Given they are 6inch rims and the originals are 4.5, I'm guessing that that wont really be an issue but when I have put some rubber on a couple I'll do the meaures. With the HR rear axle I'll be a bit wider there?
PS: I find FB/EK wheels to be a right pain in the arse.

They are flat to suit the torana hubs which sit out more. That is why I asked. Same reason why torana rims foul on HR hubs.

If anything Brett they look like they could be slightly over track. You reslly need to get the suspension at ride height and measure track to be sure to be sure.
This is an issue we ith modifying any vehicle mate, not just finnys.

One step forward and two steps backward. Just in case anyone following this saga thought I had died and gone to heaven, no such luck. I have most recently been mucking about trying to get the red motor and M20 to fit the hole.
You may recall that I bought a V6 Conversions transmission bracket to go between the two halves of crossmember 1. Was told 4 speed would fit, so stupidly went ahead and fitted it to my CRS floor hump and crossmember.
There is no way on earth that the V6 thingy is anywhere close to being the right dimensions to fit the M20, so today I cut it out.
Discussed with Engineer and he recommended to go with 5mm x50mm flat shaped to fit, welded to crossmember ends and also tacked to floor. We also discussed what to do if floor shifter ( which has to be moved to suit bench seat as well) gets obstructed by this bar. This time I will stick the gear box in first.....
Picture of what was, and currently what is
