Gotta say, when I first saw that colour I was thinking each his own I guess. But its really grown on me - probably my pick of the original colours now. And the wheels work a treat.
No compromises in this build and what a journey. Super impressed with the results.

Worried me a bit with the first photo... thought it might have been Midnite Spares.
Good to see the old girl on the rolling road.
Cheers,

Hey Greg
You have the number plates on the WRONG car.

it looks as though the trip to Newcastle isn't to far off

Thanks for all the kind words guys, I do appreciate it.
Brett, wheels are rocket fuels, you can get them from antique tyres in Vic or from places in the USA like summit etc, check prices online first.
I'm sure they only come in HQ and Fraud pattern so it limits your choice.
Engineering hurdle now, and i know there a couple of things that might get in the way, we shall see.
Regards Greg

Tinkering now waiting for engineer to give me a flogging !!!
I was thinking how i could blue tooth a speaker to my phone for long trips and found these, they are made to fit into the old speaker hole then operate via a blue tooth control box, nifty i reckon.

Sound is quite good although not going to break any sound records ! You can adjust the graphic equaliser on your phone to achieve the tone you like, oh and its stereo to boot.

I did a similar thing with speakers in my ute when I built it , didn't want to cut holes anywhere or put them in the door trims

, just used the old stereo in the glovebox trick though , and i plug my phone into the USB port on the stereo for tunes across the Nullarbor etc.

Ok,
First round with the engineer today and i have a small list.
1/Toooooo low in the rear for any suspension travel ( I knew this was the case and I don't like riding on the bump stops ) So I have already got a new top leaf painted ready to go in tomorrow, If you guys remember I have reversed the eyes on the original springs so its going back to standard, it will lift the rear one inch and i may trim down the bump stops.
2/Shielding for the exhaust to protect some brake lines, steering knuckles and the starter battery lead. Will make some with heat shield aluminium.
3/ Sight glass on the master cylinder, first I have ever heard of that but I need to comply so drill tap and install !!
4/Sticker on booster to indicate what the brake people need to use when filling it !!!!
4/ Engine / firewall to close drivers side, this is my fault I lifted the engine to gain 10mm everywhere else but forgot that bit. Painted and nice as well, mmmm I'll have to think about that one.
5/ The old seat belt chestnut, missed by 5cm on the rear hip location so new plates and two new holes, and two new holes and plates for the middle belt as per Harv's detailed report.
6/ You guessed it ! TOOOOO loud, 110 Decibels, I must be going deaf, it doesn't sound that loud to me !!!! New mufflers it is.
The only thing that is worrying me is the brake test and the gemini booster, the engineer went for a quick run in it today and said it feels ok but not great, relating to brake foot pressure.
I may just bite the bullet and do a bigger booster before then, I really don't want to do a vacuum pump and tank, its the same amount of work !!!
All in all i am quite happy with the result and the engineer i am using is thorough and honest. I will be happy when its done completely though.

Not to big a list Greg , When it comes time I hope mine will be that short a list

Sight glass on the master cylinder is pretty funky. Is it a XA/B/C tin-lid master, where you can't see the fluid level? Hard to argue with him, but no different to the tin-can original ones...
Sticker on booster to indicate what the brake people need to use when filling it. Assume this is Dot 5 versus Dot 3/4/5.1?
110dB... and I thought it was just me that had a window-rattling exhaust

. Flange the new ones...
In retrospect, I wish I hadn't used the Gemini booster either. Not sure how so many hotrods pass with them.
Cheers,
Harv

Greg,
Not too bad then....... didn't think it could be too loud? Maybe temporary packing in the mufflers for the next check over

my 6 cylinder Austin even with a quiet muffler only just scraped through DB test, was talking to a mate with a small block HG they put on quiet mufflers fail, filled the exhaust with chicken wire fail, in the end they got plates drilled lots of holes in them and put them in at the collectors it just passed

I tried the baffle plates. Dropped maybe 1-2dB on a good day, not enough to get the 18dB I needed to drop.

Harv

What is defined as too close Greg? My 202 has the seam that joins the top and bottom of the firewall folded down to stop it fouling.
