This might be a stupid question , but why wouldnt you paint the plenum and the pillars when you were painting , say , the roof ??? I know you have painted heaps of cars and obviously you know what you are doing - apart from being an EK fan rather than the far superior FB .................
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I just got sick of doing prep and this piece sucked. Painting the car gave me the motivation to finish the last piece. I had done the prep on the edges near the guards so no risk of harming fresh paint.....

OH AND IF IT WAS AN EK THE PLENUM WOULD HAVE BEEN 20 TIMES EASIER TO PREP!
I will send you some tissues

Worth the extra work imho. What about the chrome bits? I assume you are leaving vent cover in place.

Mmmm, EK plenum cover, the second ugliest part of the car, looks like the unsuccessful waterfall grill in the AU Falcon, yuck! C'mon Tim, you know the FB is the nice one, you've just got more EKs.

Tim, when you are bare metal painting, does the inside of the roof gutters (where the roof joins them) need a run of seam sealer or will just painting them suffice?

Paint will seal it up Brett. Go to town on it with wire wheel and get plenty paint on it.

Hello Clay its Bretty here😁.
Yes I cleaned it up back to shiny metal with a brush on the die grinder and its painted up well, but I think the workshop manual talks about sealing the weld with mastic or something. I wouldnt have used mastic, but one of the paint-able seam sealers if its necessary to do.

Now I'm worried I didn't put drip check or seam sealer in there. Not really.

Gee Tim, why you wasting that nice badge on a ratty old FB when you could put it on Freya's EK ute. ? 8)

:o not surprised really. Good s/h one turned up on Gumtree locally last week for $200. I hesitated as I have one with one missing pin and a couple of ones with broken bars. It went in two days and the seller put one up with a broken pin for $180. I only paid $50 for mine. Would have paid the $200 prolly as I've got z few pineapplesburning a hole in my pocket oh well pardon the digression.
