Its Time to clean up the FB
Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
Yesterday was a few little jobs, because I had ran out of paint too finish the rear spring, and I could not be bothered going down to the shops for a can of paint, its funny, I go to the shops and buy some thing that I am after eg: a can of paint and as soon as I am home I remember I needed some gasket material and some sealant.
any way I knocked out the drive shaft, flaps under the bonnet and the battery tray.
question: can you buy the rubber which fits into the sub frame (inner guard) holes which prevents the battery from rattling around?
regards

Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
does the rares kit have them?
You can buy new terminal blocks off eBay for the wiring on each inner guard as in your pic if they are a bit corroded - they are near perfect replicas

Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
A couple of photos, I cleaned and greased up the regulators, I ended up doing all 4 as I installed the wrong one, found out i was the wrong one when the window would not wind all the way up, it stopped about an inch short so it came.
polished up the stainless on the window divider and a lick of paint, new quarter rubber, bailey channel, the glass got a good clean with the rest of the bits, and it all turned out good.
My wife broght some beer to the shed so that was the end of the day
cheers
Thomo.

Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
Really enjoying watching this come back together - if you want some new headlight terminal blocks PM me your address, I bought a few sets years ago for someone who never picked them up - I will send them to you gratis .....
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
G'day Stephen,
I got my kit from http://www.earlyholdenparts.com.au and the guys name is Roger. they guy seems a pretty decent fella, as I had to phone him up for a coupe of little dramas which I had and he was very helpfull. as for the kit I find it hard to fully recommend, as the kit is not a part for part kit, and a couple of the parts simply do not fit.
I had the kit sitting on my shelf for a while and if I knew what I do now and if I had the time I would do some research, a quick search found https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/79 ... _Pump.html
The main reason for my rebuild was mostly due I want to run the vacuum wipers and would like to give them every chance they have, so fingers crossed

Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
Today was consumed with the dam fuel pump, I will write some lessons learned with photos within the forum under fuel when I get time, as it was a mission, my young bloke knocked off school and wanted a job to do, so Harry got to mount the indicators.
