Itching to start on Project 2. A mate has kindly offered to house Wilma in his garage when I'm ready, which
allows me to bring in Project 2 and the spare rear half to start surgery. Will leave the Black ute for now. But a bit to do on Wilma first.

I'm inspired by your p van Clay to tackle this one. Looking forward to the utes- less fiddly stuff. This one will have my reco'd slightly hot grey ( it was the one burnt in coastal bushfires, but hot in other sense too). New sills and floor panels will go straight in and be easier second time around. Only 2 doors and both replacements are straight and rust free. Upholstery is done ready to go. Wow- it's almost finished already. Oops reality check just arrived....

Thanks for posting the link Blacky. Great fabrication and engineering work, but not my plan. On the other hand, I do have a spare set of FB tail lights and rear panels... not happening.

Come on, an extra six inches wouldn’t go astray….

There is nothing much left to post for Wilma I'm thinking, Clay. A pic of car registered with its new rego plates and those shiny chrome wheels will be it I reckon. "I pulled off carb fuel line and played about with a multimeter on horn wires yesterday" are the sorts of tasks left. Not something worth posting I'm thinking.

My only regret with the posts is the mistake in the dates early in the post. It was a late March 2019 purchase - not 2018 as in the text. I bought it and then joined this forum a few days later to find out what to do. Fortunately forum members have been very supportive with their suggestions and encouragement and other build posts have been educational and inspiring, and it's all turned out ok.

Last pieces for Wilma. Rear mudflap brackets. Came out OK, I think.

Today's drama involves the fuel pipe from pump to carburettor. It kept flooding even after I swapped the float because bits of rust were flaking off the inside of the old pipe and mucking up the seal. So, I bought 2 new pipes on Evil Bog and they arrived today. Perfect shape, but both leaked at each end no matter what I did. After many tries on the car (petrol everywhere), I put an old needle and seat fitting in the vice and after many goes of loosening and tightening and rotating a bit, finally got down to a weep on the fuel pump end. Will see if I can get it a bit better tomorrow.

Not what I was expecting with new pipes at all. Especially with 2 new ones to choose from. It's my second bad experience with 'new' pipes. Other was a set of stainless brake and clutch master cylinder pipes. Those ones both had a groove inside the new flares, so had no chance of sealing.

Or, you could feed some MIG wire through the old fuel pipe, cut off a narrow strip of Scotchbrite, twist the wire around the Scotchbrite to secure it, and pull it back through the fuel pipe.

Or, you could block one end with Blu-Tac, and pour rust converter into the pipe and let sit for a while.

If it's any consolation, my FC needed frequent cleaning of the needle and seat, and unblocking of the main jet, for about the first ten thousand miles after I got it back on the road.
