Mucking about with the mighty grey today. Checked oil pressure with drill and gauge and all is well.
Clutch and gearbox on now and also shiny blue reco distributor.
While I was searching for bits turned up one of two rear spring centre bolts that I replaced- probably could've got a few more years out of themImage.
Enjoyed the company of Belly760 yesterday morning. Looking forward to seeing Sam's builds.ImageImage

That's buggered.

Nice heater tap. Engine looks the business. Fuel pump?

Fuel pump has been kitted out 😀. Put an extra cable through firewall from the dash heater control to run the valve- will see how it goes. I've kept the best heater (with the plenum connection) for the ute and have the on heater thermostat valve to put on that one.
You may have guessed, but I haven't done the strikers yet☺.
I assume that the square headed fill plug on the gearbox is not the oil level?

Mine took just under a litre mate which was just up to that plug. That’s what my suppler looked up for me.

Far as I know fill to overflowing. I think the volume is in the front of the workshop manual. Same for rear axle.

Fill to overflowing when hot, or 1/2" under the fill plug cold. Should take close to a litre (1 2/3 pints).

Cheers,
Harv

There you go. Thanks Harv. I put my litre in yesterday when it was a balmy 8°, so that explains why still below the plug hole🙂.

The shock of 31 would probably kill me outright. Pottering in the shed today at 12° felt positively warm doing motor install prep work🤪 Wilma will have a pulse this week if all goes to plan.

Motor in. Lessons learnt: alternator on motor won't fit through radiator gap. Clutch slave and rhs engine mount can stay on but lhs had to come off.
Get heater hoses in the right firewall holes. Have to swap them over because valve thingy lines up with lower hose which of course I made the long oneImage.
Other than that all went trouble free.
Knocked off now 'cause its 6° and while I'm not "bad to the bone", I am am now cold to them!Image

I am retired Blacky and time is plentiful. I have hardly any excuses for the time it's taking already.

Nice work,
Looks good!!
Best get it fired up and sit in the car with the heater on. Does the sun ever shine there? At least you could just leave the beer out 😊

I'm starting to wonder about the sun too Stephen. This has been the bleakest winter I can remember (mind you I can't remember where I put the car keys from this morning).

Yes, beer fridge in the shed doesn't seem to be coming on much....
