You'd be better off sticking with the 186s. 202's aren't all they cracked up to be. My old one even after being balanced rattled itself loose on a regular basis (or maybe it was the thrashing ) either way it wasn't as good as the 186 I pulled out.
Go get a good tranny cooler fitted and give the motor a service and tune, flush out the cooling system and see how it goes. Can't be all that bad.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Thanks Bex,
a little more terminal than I had hoped...................
From what people have told me about auto's - they seem a lot happier if their comfort level is "contained"........I am certain DR is offering very sound advice.............
as for 202 over 186 - sorry, don't know - I have no experience with 202's other than the one I drove for my driving lessons and test in 1973 - hated the bug cumbersome HQ - was very happy to get back into my EK...... even if it only had the little 138........
Cherrybomb - nice touch, guess you're very popular around your parts........ hope BF doesn't feel an "also ran" third........
chin up Bex, all will be better than ever........ and a little gained knowledge in the process..
if you want to rev it hard go 186
if you want more torque go 202
having said that, i have no problems extracting 7000rpm out of a 202 and when i went from 192 to 202 i reckon the power increase was noticable, and that was with the same cam and head as the 192 had ....

Will post some pics when I get the chance.
Too right, glad it worked Blacky. Post them thar pics!!!
Alls it takes is some careful prep and planning and about 10 mins of spraying (if no candy). There is more work getting the roof ready and masked than anything else.

Your dead right there Brett, I couldnt believe how simple it was - the painter told me afterwards he wasnt worried about the lace, he was worried about the candy - its a bastard !
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
