With your door poppers do you have a mechanical means of opening them from the outside (simple yes will do, don't need to now where) as this is a hot topic in Vic at the moment. One of a few items Mr plod is cracking down on, the other being no gaurds on Hot rods

.Reason being no easy access for rescuers in an emergency.

As for the copper lines the reason they are no good is under pressure copper flexes (or in this case expand) and will cause a poor brake feel and pedal. This is what I was told many moons ago so it could be a bit of a wives tale. Although it does sound right as copper is a light metal as such.

The short answer in regards to the doors is yes, but not yet....
Havent organised that part yet....
A lot of newer cars have door locking systems that lock automatically when you begin driving..
And falcon wagons have a weird setup that doesnt have locking barrels on the passenger door and rear doors... hard to explain but you cant open the other doors unless you press the central locking button inside..
Emergency crews are gonna smash your windows regardless if you have door handles/locks to get you out... it can be hard to explain that to authorities though....
Im hoping i dont have to overcome any major hurdles with it....
Will try and dummy fit the skirts this weekend and get some more pics up..

Apparently most new cars also have an overide in an accident that will unlock all doors. This comes from a mate who is the Australasian Production Manager for Toyota. But either way first people on the scene are always emergency crews so smashing there way in is the likely outcome.

Either way your ride is awesome, can't wait to see more shots as it goes back together

I've heard of the auto unlock function also.

In Japan, it's illegal to drive without your doors locked. Go figure.

An eager firey carrying a pry bar will make short work of your locked door anyway.

OK, with that.

Heres a scenario: Your in a carpark, you see a fella in a car thats locked no access handles, You think he is unconscious! due to no response after knocking on the window a few times.
So you smash it, just to see if he's allright.

He finally wakes up and then sues the arse of you for damages.

I know its sounds crazy, but the reallity is we are following the States, for every dollar we can get.

Guys

If emergency crews are on the scene at a accident don't you suppose the car would be somewhat wrecked!
Does it really matter if the glass is smashed by a rescuer because you cant get out!
I have spoken to RTA gurus before and they say its for release by fellow motorists that is important especially in a fire.
If a rescue team is onsite I dare say you are in real trouble or its to late.
Just go with the rules although you might think its crazy it is for a reason.

hey guys,

sorry to dwell, but i thiught this maybe useful info...

as i also wanted the shaved look & door popers, but as a wsie man once yold me... is that the car would get a defect notice & you would have to get them put on. at you own expense, get the dor bottun intalled then have the doors repainted....

i've opted for buttons, but i'll also get the solenoids installed as i dont want anyone touching my car with there filthy hands...

smooth customs has a button mech for this exact reason...

As for the door poppers, i have a letter from the RTA saying its ok as long as i keep all the original interior mechanisms and handles operational..
DAD fitted the skirts this morning... look great when its down low... DAD was feeling a bit left out because i wasnt giving him credit, so THANKS DAD! ha... there you go...
Also a pic of the gauges set up... Im pretty happy with the way its all coming together now...
Rosco, RE: panel work on the other one... I bought it off a lady who had it since brand new, i have never had any major panel work done, just a couple of rust spots fixed.. Didnt do it myself, would like to be capable of doing it one day though...

don't like to put shit on rescue squads but my daughter was in a smash minor front panel damage, the doors were still opperational, but no these peanuts cut the centre pillar out= car useless and not repairable
just cause she said her back was a bit sore they could have opened the door and got her out
