Hey All

Finished sand blasting the under carriage (not a good job for a hot day).

Decided to go with the KBS paint system, although I sand blasted I still used the 3 step system.

Didn’t blast the fuel tank as it’s getting replaced down the track with an ally drop tank, it will be a good test for the KBS paint system in the interim.

The sand blaster worked well once I went and hired a 25 CFN compressor, even that straggled. Fore efficiency I needed a higher pressure, once the pressure dropped the unit struggled. It worked a treat on painted surfaces; it’s the rust that requires the real grunt.

Have attached some pics of the KBS system being applied, the rust blaster surface can stay like that for up to 30 days. Just as well as I found a few pin holes.
Picked up a few extra ponies for the old girl today while I was out.

Shmeagain not sure, its a 283 with power pack heads the engine number puts it as 62 - 62 used for 230 - 315 HP range.

Colzy I found a few holes I didnt know I had, pretty simple over all though (bit messy) but good result and saves $$$

283 is a chev,

Good little revers, mine gets 300HP on the rears but is modded a little and will do 7000rpm.

These engines respond really well to bolt on goodies, headers carby etc.

Looking good Gazza. It looks like a good shell. A sand blaster will be on my next build 'must have'. I had all the hanging panels sand blasted, but would of been handy to blast door jams, around windows etc.

Got the first coat of the KBS (Satin Black) on today; brushed it on as I will spray the second coat.
Need to replace the cross member under body section prior to welding the chassis kit in, hopefully it will be here in a few days.
Plan to paint the front clip in the morning once I have cut the inner guards for the headers.
Picked up a very nice 010 350 block with crank & pistons, intend putting an Edelbrock “Power Pack Top end kit on it so it will be an easy build. The block just needs a hone as its only just been done prior to stripping,
Cant wait to get the frond clip & diff back on so as I can start the fun stuff.
PS picked up another ute hopefully get it next week, (registered driver) plan to cut & polish & drive.

Hi Gazza.

that floor looks great, well worth the effort in making a rotisserie. Makes the job so much easier.

The KBS paint coating is exceptional stuff. I have used it now for quite a while, and found equal to POR at 1/3 of the price. Plus its Australian.

Hey crew
A trial fit of the 283 today so as I can cut the inner gauds on the clip for the headers and sort out the radiator, for reference looks like 650mm is the max width. It’s a shame as a lot of the nice radiators are 26 inches; Looks like I will go with the fenix one it seem to be the right size.
The standard HQ rims are no good as they have to bigger back space the Chevy rally rims are the go apparently. West coast Wheels will sort me out.
The CSR front end or my clip are a bit out of line (could be a bit of both)
Picked up a twin Stromberg set up for my new Ute just needs a polish and probably a kit through the carbies.
Hopefully pick up the new Ute on the weekend, can’t wait it’s been 20 years since I have driven an EK.
Plan is to cut & polish and drive, (book me in for the next cruise in WA, will post pics once it arrives. Better lay low after this one as I am running out of room. It’s bloody addictive though.

Lovin your build WW coz i'm just a little behind you.. rotisserie looks like the way to go (I've just got to get my hands on one) I've got most of my engine gear from the US, Very similar to what your set up will be. save me a fortune importing myself most from summit racing (very easy to use their site). do you have a template when cutting out the headers? have you worked out what booster you'll run?

I will make a template on paper for you if you PM me your details I will send it over won't be for two weeks though as I am back to work on Tuesday
I have a hot rod 7 inch double diaphragm booster with a custom master cylinder I am running 4 wheel discs

The changes to VSB 14 mention I had to change my steering column to a collapsable one I will use a hot stainless off the shelf one.

Agree with the import suff whith a high dollar there are some bargains Edelbrock make Avery good value top end kitvwith a cam
