Hooked into the king pins over the last couple of days.
Bloody hell what a laborious job it is to ream the .010 out of the brass.
It’s taken 2 afternoons of elbow grease to get the bush’s to size, only due to my hands and arms hurting with the continued action of the work.
Will open the Center cast piece up the .010 with emery paper spun on a bit of timber tomorrow, hopefully that works ok.
I hope so, totally committed now haha

To be honest Brett I have no idea why all the available aftermarket pins are .010 oversize.
All it does is make a heap of work for the fitter!
New STD pins and bush’s would be perfect!

Yeah I totally agree. It is a bugger enlarging the cast bit for no benefit other than making the pins fit.

I tell ya, what a pain in the arse opening this cast piece out .010 to suit these over sized king pins.

Tried a dodgey set up in the lathe to polish the internal diameter out, be real luck. But I have been using some crappy sandpaper for the job, should really have emery tape.

Brett suggested a dremel and some sanding and grinding attachments- I’ll have to go to Bunnings and have a look to see what they have.

Other option is buying a short adjustable reamer which hate and Forbes have in stock but there is no guarantee that will actually work.

So the question is, how is this job done without bashing your HWS against the wall while trying to achieve it?

Time to make a start on the doors whist I wait on a decent solution for the long pin cast hole.

Actually looking pretty good for rust in this one.

Other back door is a good one too.

Had a decent day in the shed today.

Rear glass has been fitted, windscreen will have to wait.
Ordered a new one and it was cracked on pick up from the supplier, they are getting another which will take another week or so.

Kicked on with the king pins.
The Center cast piece has proved to be a pain to open the hole out .010” to suit the over sized pins.
Tried using the dremel, linishing rod on the drill and a small brake cylinder hone.
All were either butchering the hole out of shape or simply doing not much at all.

Ordered an adjustable reamer which I could chuck in the mill, made a jig and bingo job done in a hour and a half.

A nice finish is always achievable on about the 5th try lols.

BTW if anyone in the group needs this done to the Center cast piece of the king pins shout out and I’ll do it for yas.
However getting your hands on the Warren & Brown tool to do the brass bush’s will be up to you!

Hello Hello, it’s been a few weeks of being distracted on other things in life but i have the next 4 days at home in the shed to get some work on the move.

Hope to gets the king pins finished and my windscreen sorted out.

I was half way though all of my jobs but it seems the glass is taking priority first, simply because it’s in my way and instead of making room I’ll just get it fitted.

All of the rear glass went in sweet because it was factory glass, but as expected a new aftermarket laminated windscreen is giving me a touch of grief.

Stupid me thought it would actually fit!

I’ve got a good auto glazier who just works on classics helping me out, we went to fit the front windscreen and I just wasn’t happy with the fit.
The stainless mouldings were sticking out and not lining up and to be honest it looked like shit.
The glazier tried tell me it’s ASBESTOS it’s gonna get and to drill new holes for the screws to hold the stainless mouldings in place.
My answer was go a get #+}*}^!!!

I told to pack up for the day and I’ll contact him when I’ve got my head around it all.
He did suggest that the glass outer needs profile needs grinding to get it sitting better.

Its taken me a couple of weeks but I dummy fitted a factory glass and measured the gaps and then did the same with the laminate item.

Sure enough the laminate item is way to big on some of the corners.

Glazier told me to mark it and grind it with 60grit on the angle grinder to the shape I want so I’m be doing this tomorrow.

Numbers on blue tape are the factory gaps that I need to replicate, terra marks on the glass is how far I need to grind it!!!

My laminated screen has the same issue. I just couldn’t get the top corners of the trim right ( slight gap ) and that is making it push the trims on the bottom corners up against the body very tightly. It was to late once I did it all so I’m just going to wait for the moment before I attempt a fix. Lots of comments how it’s the rubber but I am convinced it’s the screen size for sure. I will eventually take it out again and measure and cut just like you have.

That is annoying Drew,
So am I right that in some areas the screen edge needs to be reduced by up to 10mm? If so that seems a lot! You would be a bit anxious using a grinder on the glass wouldn't you?
