4:11's it is. Thanks for the info... If you think of it let me know dr. I was just going to buy a crate motor but I keep getting advised against them by drag racing guys from work. This looks alright though, anyone delt with these guys?

Anything in sm would be cool. But a cover, that'd be totally sick. If not, maybe the next car or the one after that

I doubly I'll never stop building now.
If anyone's interested, and on it - I'm making a gay little facebook page for this build and some of my other cars later down the track. Being on a few forums now it's hard to keep up with the progress info to each. I'll keep posting on here though, just not some of the other forums.

no real experience but I think it depends on what crate engines, there is/was some floating around that were supposedly warranties but repaired but I don't think these were being sold as performance crate engines, I do know a couple of guys that have bought big block crate engines and they go great STANLEY on here has one in a '63 full size Pontiac car is in full street trim drive to and from the track runs 11's and is quite driveable another was also in a big car '66 chev impala never raced but would destroy tyres at the drop of a hat most people say they couldn't build a motor with this power for the price

I did some researching over crate engines for the EK wagon, including talking to the topfuel boys at Sainty (their workshop is just around the corner from home) and some of the fast boat engine boys. The cost of taking a stock SBC, machining and adding all the goodies (aluminium heads, decent intake manifold, rocker gear etc) is pretty close to the cost of a crate... and still leaves you with a factory block. Some of the performance crates in the last three years have had issues (lifter bores not true, requiring boring and brass sleeving) but seems to have settled in the last twelve months. Looks like I'll end up going crate (despite having a smoky runner 327 in it for now).
Cheers,
Harv

Haha, okay spotty - I'll stop...
Crate motor it is.... If the engineer would allow it, I'd be putting one of those lsx big blocks in the thing!

Cheers dr, I've never heard of him but I'll look him up

..
A fella in Melbourne flamen. If you're after one for yourself the best thing to do is compile an email with a description of what you're doing/want to do, then shoot it off to as many engineers as you can find. There is a full list on the vic roads web site.
