FB/EK's shared a common "front centre" and "front ends". The "front centre" was also used as the sedan "rear centre". Wagons had different "rear ends" and "rear centres". Those painted seats came up damn well. What product did you use for the red colour?

It was a Motospray fabric paint - satin Red.
Just a shame they didn't make a silver.
It actually looks just as good in real life.

Got all the material needed to finish the rear end interior.
Now I can finish the seats etc.

Sanded back the paint issues on the front doors and got them back to acceptable.
Quarter glass installed, four times if I recall correctly.
Can now do it blindfolded, without any scratching or issues.
Practice make perfect.
Will see if the other door is as easy
Just annoying that you have to do everything In the correct order or do it over again and again.



Bailey channel and weather strips installed.



Always check you have everything ready,
This was one reason to re-install the quarter glass. Forgot to include the top strip.



Glass installed and ready top go back on the car.

Doesn't seem to matter how many cars you build , you always seem to do every thing twice

Seats are finished (at this stage)
Will be looking at adding a little bling in the future.





Even managed to get the nice curve into the carpet (although it took some time)

Really impressed with how well these came out,
And the Red and Silver match the exterior so well.















I actually have 12 metres of alloy bar to use for this.
This will take a while to cut, drill, counter sink the holes and install.
And it also looks really good without them.
I'll wait and see what the rest of the cargo area looks like before I decide.
But you can never have too much bling (chrome looking stuff).



One front door installed.
But it also didn't want to line up or fully close.



And refixed some of the separating vinyl on the door trims.
Put two on the door to check, but will need to fix them properly.



Measured up the cargo area for the wood flooring and discovered something is missing....



If you have a wagon you'll know what's missing.
Can I bolt something in ?
Was it originally a welded section.
Can I just use some square tubing and bolt it on ?
Otherwise the floor will be a bit floppy, if I load things into the cargo area.
I don't even know what size the original brace was.
Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks Tim that's exactly what I was looking for.
He says that bolts in.
If that's the case I can try to get the one off the parts wagon.
Otherwise I can make something up. Again.

Tough call on adding the aluminium or not Finny. It may end up being too much. Cars looking great though.

Ek's are hard work.
Not sure about the nationals, still need to get to on the road first.

I'm going to install the interior without the bars first, then cut them up and see what the final would look like.

Have had a few days helping others, even my son wanting help to paint his ute.
Got that one done, all white.
Fairly easy, just straight white. All back together now.





Same son offered to help put the windscreen back in my EK today, so I accepted.
I was a little apprehensive, but knew it had to be done sooner or later.
Now I can finish the rest of the dash and the restored steering wheel.







Actually went in really easy.
I did need to use a rubber mallet to get the sides to sit down.
And a bit messy but I'm, sure I'll need to go around and add more sealant.
It was ten times more difficult getting the chrome trim onto the windscreen than actually getting it onto the car.
But it's back in and looks good.

Looks like a few more days off, so I can catch up with drinking and eating, way too much.

Don't forget to replace the sealant or a thin rubber strip were the back of the guard bolts to the body near the front doors.

Agree, Wayne - and, I'd suggest adhering that strip to the body with Sikaflex - one time I would use it above butyl-mastic.
When you come to fitting those cup-head bolts from inside the foot-well cavity to secure the guards, use some gaffer tape to hold the socket onto the bar... there are many FB/Ek's around with loose sockets running around in them - they are very hard to get out if they come off the extension bar when you pull it out through the aperture.

Make sure the neoprene strip you use is the same thickness as the original - mine are too thick, and both front guards sit up just a tad above the bonnet and plenum intake.

If you go to a windscreen joint they sell raw rubber in varying thicknesses on a roll about 50mm wide - perfect for remaking those rubber strips.

Hey Rosco I welded a socket to the end of a long handle screw driver a few years back to put those guard bolts in and out
its a goooood thing

Clever, Jay... guess I'm looking for an old long handle screwdriver, then....
