Very frustrating afternoon. Trying to fit accelerator pedal under a molded rubber floor mat. I wonder if the peeps who make this stuff ever try and fit it. Many, many bad words spoken.

He he Clay. The issue is that the pedal hole only lines up on the mat when it is at floor level. The pedal is angled so if you try and install the pedal on the floor first, the mat doesn't have enough flex to allow it to move the 3 inches or so back to follow the pedal down. You can't get at the pedal bolt hole towards the seat when the pedal is standing up so on and so forth. It was more difficult than it should be is all. 🙄

Ok as long as you got there. I installed the pedal first. I remember it being bit of a stretch but worked ok on the end. The bit around the steering column and handbrake car gave me greif because I had the firewall insulation in.

Actually I had installed the may and had to take it out t o I stall the high beam dip switch which is secured from inside by screws doh.

But yes I agree that some stuff defies logic, specially under dash.

Started to think that the pedal assembly might bolt on over the mat but the hole wouldn't allow it. Few odd jobs under dash to go and then buffing😀.....Or motor and gearbox install🤗

More questions today. Is this set up right for the inlet heater flap? I can't work out from looking at the manual which way is closed for heat and which way is openImageImage

Brett,

That's "closed", which is right.

Thanks Rob, any idea how much bi-metal spring pressure is ideal? I twisted it round once.

One turn may be too much. I'm thinking less than a half.

If the Powers That Be don't mind you using an electric stove for experimental purposes, place the bimetal spring on a hot element, and see how much the spring unwinds . . . and I have talked myself into a corner.

Do you possibly have the spring on backwards? If the spring unwinds with increasing temperature, you do. If it winds up with increasing temperature, you're OK.

Took a lot of effort to get the flap to free up, so I'm keen to get it to work. Tidy is nice too😁

Heated up spring on manifold and it goes loose and weight lowers. Working I'm guessing.

On another matter, any clues about glovebox lid spring ? I assume its there to push open the lid a bit when you open it. Mine is not doing anything - anyone got a pic of open box that shows spring they could post please?
