I’m a little beside myself this morning.
Partly due to a restless sleep, partly due to the nerves associated with driving a largely untested, very unregistered 56 year old car with no seatbelts across central Sydney in peak hour... but mostly because I’m over the moon about the outcome - Leroy is legal!!
6am fuel stop in Stanmore:
6:30am across town in Rushcutters Bay - I worked as a SAAB technician at Pate & Vernooy for a short stint years ago when I was between careers. The owner Michael has been a great help since:
The Holy Grail part 1 (don’t worry, we’re updating the transmission to ‘Manual’ later on today):
7:30am drive back home, radio tuned in to 2SER, approved Blue Slip on the seat, grinning from ear to ear despite gridlock traffic along William St, tucked in behind a very tidy HR Special no less:
And finally, over to Service NSW at Marrickville for The Holy Grail part 2:
All done by 9am, I was only half an hour late for work. Best bit is, Leroy hasn’t missed a beat! I’ve done a bunch of work since the last post, but I’ll update all that later.
Tonight I’ll go pick up Jodie, the partner of Leroy’s previous owner who passed away three years ago now, and take her for the first drive as promised. There will be tears.
But for now it’s smiles all round

Joe
