Last section of underbody repairs. Bit of a mess but plenty to work with. Image

Too many hours has gone into this, and still a bit to do today. I wish I had access to a machine that can bend multiple angles rather than just one right angle. Where there are 2 or more changes in direction it becomes a bit of a challenge (see join down the middle of the box section with the elongated hole).

A 5/16× 1 inch bead roller die would help too but I haven't got one of those either. The lip that the tray floor sits on is going to require some outside assistance or lateral thinking- that job coming soon. That and replacing the support beams for the tray flooring are going to test my endurance I think. There is definitely going to be a considerable break between Project 2 and Project 3.

Used the stretcher/ shrinker to form some right angle joiners- love this gizmo. Took a pic for those who haven't seen one. Mine is a cheap basic model with a set of jaws for shrinking and another for stretching.

Anyway, for the visually preferred, a progress pic. Hopefully some more of the final product to follow soon.

Yes that is a common and tricky area it seems on utes, which I also invested many an hour on. Nobody going to see those floor supports, but I guess they are needed if you intend carrying anything much at all. Thanks for the photos. Where did you get the shrinker stretcher?

I bought mine from Harbor Freight in the US about 10 years ago, bought them back as excess baggage along with a swag of other treasures 😎
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Orange Betty Dave has a fancy foot pedal one that does shrink and stretch depending on the pedal.

Neat work Brett
Your gizmo looks good value indeed. Will need to find a project where I will need one of them……… hang on I’ll check my shed for a couple projects 😊

Hi Stephen, hope you've been able to have a relaxing festive season. How many projects have you got?🤔

I only have 1 project 😊

Brett,
Stephen has more shed projects than he has time for. Like the motorbike he parked in the shed back in 1998 that has not seen the light of day. Right now I have house projects for him that will keep him “out of the shed” for a few months. :)

Oh oh. Sounds like Mrs in the shed has plans. This is not good as a general trend, and while confrontation should be avoided at all costs, a strategy of obfuscation and constantly shifting priorities has been proven succesful in other regimes.

Thanks Brett
It’s all good. I get my fair share of shed time so a couple jobs inside the house to tackle then see what else pops up. 👍

Floor metal work now done. Slapped a bit of POR15 so I could stop chasing surface rust. It has been stormy everyday for days.

Still rust repair work to do at tray level and back of seat panel and rear quarters. Image
