Tilba is a great place to visit, it has always been a little kept secret until the TV series River cottage australia started to air back in the early 2000's.

That show has now ceased but the town still holds it old school charm. Well worth the effort to see if your in that neck of the woods.

Nat’s diary 2025

Post by Blacky »

Parked up last night in Mollymook, went to the golf club for dinner and it was PACKED - had a nice view from the room and the locals were friendly this morning

Had breakfast at Milton in a bakery which got me to thinking, why don’t bakeries in tourist areas do a party pie pie sized tasting paddle like the breweries do???
Image

Anyway , we left there and went to the Thong tree in Lake Conjola to donate a dead thugg

You’re not wrong……

Anyway after such an emotional moment at the thong tree I needed a beer so we headed to Sussex Inlet and the Swordfish Brewery - fun fact - Sussex Inlet is the pothole capital of Australia Image the road in was AWFUL

Went to Hiskisson after that and had another one at Buds Tavern, had lots of old beeranalia on the walls , worth a look

If you are near the coast tomorrow blacky there is a big swell forecast, dangerous surf. Could be spectacular. I’ve surfed at Mollymook, golf course reef. Very nice spot.

Not a lot of swell unfortunately- stopped at Gerringong , found a tomb with a view at the local lookout Image
Image
Image

Then on to Kiama to look at the blowholes
Image
Image

Image

Then we followed the “tourist drive” which took us straight through the middle of Wollongong ImageImage
Traffic everywhere even on a Sunday morning
Stopped at Bald Hill cafe - came for a coffee and stayed for the bike show, there must have been 100 bikes there.
Ended up sitting at the only spare seat in the place and got to chatting with the bloke next to us - for those of you who knew Torsten Steffen it turns out this bloke was his brother!!! Small world.
Image

Then went to Sydney via the back road through the National Park rather than the freeway - much nicer
Image

Got to Sydney and went to my sisters place - the traffic is HORRIBLE ImageImage
I don’t know how people live here …..

Spent a lot of caravan holidays at the Kiama blowhole as a kid. Nice part of the world.

The national park run is infamous for “spirited driving”. Number One Son made several land speed record attempts there in the FB when he was on his P-plates.

Cheers,
