Clay's Fabulous Big Exciting Kooky adventure
Re: Clay's Fabulous Big Exciting Kooky adventure
G'day Clay,
I'm guessing you've rewired the old girl enough to get her going today.
I've got an original loom here. It was unmolested, though I have since used it to repair the BBQ I had in the FB. The loom was cut in the engine bay only - 1 cut near the wiper motor, with everything on the passenger's side of the motor now missing (wires to generator, regulator, starter etc). Not sure if what's left will help you, though it looks like your BBQ was over the other side of the engine bay. If you want to cut a lump out of the loom to do permanent repairs to the ute let me know.
Cheers,
Harv

Thats pretty good going Clay - especially while running in - that wiring looks scary - could of flamed up very easily - glad your sorting it before going onErrol62 wrote:Some stats

Distance based on google maps as speedo only roughly calibrated, in reality there are probably more km than this so pretty happy with the figure, considering I’m carrying some weight and varying my speed. Mainly 98 octane with couple fills each of 91 and 95.

Just by the by Clay, are you running a separate wire from the alternator positive(output) direct to battery (or battery terminal on starter) or going through the original generator wires?

It happened Tuesday. Bit scary really what I was driving with last 2 1/2 days cutting across western nsw. No wipers this morning was the worst of it.FJWALLY wrote:Thats pretty good going Clay - especially while running in - that wiring looks scary - could of flamed up very easily - glad your sorting it before going onErrol62 wrote:Some stats

Alternator to starter + terminal. Then to light switch unfused. Then ignition unfused to coil. The rest is effectively fused.Brett027 wrote:Just by the by Clay, are you running a separate wire from the alternator positive(output) direct to battery (or battery terminal on starter) or going through the original generator wires?
When I disconnected battery negative coil continued to fire. Would this be leakage through wet tyres to ground?

All systems go, excepting reverse lights for some reason, and bonnet release pulled out. Annoying firewall grommet left out for now. Speedo yet to test. Off for fuel then up the road.

You won’t be needing reverse lights Clay

Well done sorting it out Clay. Not much sleep last night I'm guessing. Enjoy the weekend.

Had a good sleep. Finally. Up at first light, quick shower, tea and in to it. Pulled away 11am. All systems go, well the important ones like wipers, brake lights and indicators. Left over pizza while driving to Goondawindi. Weather, road and car all very good. Getting excited.Brett027 wrote:Well done sorting it out Clay. Not much sleep last night I'm guessing.
