Hey Sammy,
The engine was a comedy of errors.
Firstly, no spark, turned out to be a slight buckle in the balancer that had smashed the crank angle sensor in behind the balancer. Replaced both balancer and sensor, fixed that problem.
Secondly no injection pulse, so thats when I sent the computer back. I was told there was nothing wrong with the computer, but when I got it back and put it back together, I had pulse. That one may remain a mystery. Once all was back together it still wouldn't go. I pulled the injection rail off to check fuel flow, that was after having the injectors serviced, and still nothing. So then I started checking the fuel hoses. As that turned out when I hooked up the fuel pipes at the pump in the boot, I hooked up the return to the inlet and visa versa. Did a final check once both pipes were changed over and I was actually feeling confident that this time it would start. And it did, thank f#*k, as I was contemplating putting a match to it if it didn't.
End of engine story.

Yep Ratbox I had mine as low as could which meant the top of the backrest was level with the doors and my chin was above the doorline , the missus hated it because she couldnt see over the dash

whats the go with the balancer, is the engine from a pranged car or something ?
i can sympathise with you when it comes to getting EFI going, especially if you have never worked on that type of setup before .....

Hey Ratbox,
I've just set the seats up to where they suit me and my short ass missus. For these to go lower you would have to take the hump out of the floor under the seats as there sitting right on that now.
Sammy,
Yes, the motor came from a wreckers down south, so I would say it was from a wreck.
When I did my mustang I had wiring problems then too. Only I got a big name Auto electrician down south to do the harness. What a balls up that was. They charged me 1600 for the harness and it didn't work either. They actually sent me back a 6 cyl computer instead of the v8 one that I sent down. Even when they got the computer right nothing worked. It ended up costing me another 1200 to get a local auto electrician to fix there mess. When I contacted them about it again for about the 20th time they told me that I should have bought the car into them.
Yeh right, I'll just send it down by post from QLD to VIC.
Thanks Sammy, I'd just got over that and you go and get me started again.
Cheers all

Hey Trev,
I originally went through the VIC mob as they advertised about being specialists in the field, specialising in hot rods & street cars and I wanted someone who knew what they were doing so I didn't get stuffed around. I guess clever advertising can make anyone sound great.
Now I'm living out in the sticks, we have two auto electricians in the town, 1 dosen't do that new fangled computer stuff and the other will do it as long as you pay him to experiment to find the problem.
Between a rock and a hard place.

thanks mal and harko, i'm not overly keen on the late model bucket seat thing but getting older comfort is starting to be a consern, plus whenever i go to any car thing it's at least an hours drive usually more about 3 hours

Keep an eye out for Honda prelude , they look suave , lots of adjustment , good back height for old Holdens , removable headrests and the size is great .. sorry for the hijack .

Sammy,
Mate, was just having a joke.
It definately gives you the shits when you pay big dollars for something and it dosen't work. I'm with you about doing as much myself as I can.

Hey guys,
Finally got all the central locking set up in the doors. Now to start with the full length electric windows.
Also have finished making all the brake lines.
Have gone against the 57 Chev door moulds that I was playing with and came up with my own look, which I think looks better anyway. Still looking for a pair of EK front door moulds if anyone can help out.
Im going to do the car 2 tone, white roof and side stripe but still undecided at the main colour. Maybe the photo guru's can show me some ideas with what Ive got.
Have just added a couple of pictures just to give you an idea of how it will look in the end with the side moulds, hood rockets and Chev headlight peaks.

Cheers all

Looking good now Malcolm. Side trim works fairly well as it flows with the car. I'm enjoying the updates.

I agree Malcolm, she sure is hitting the spot for me too..I was originally sceptical of the gunsights, but they have been done poorly by others before you! I reckon she would look fine in an old sKooL musty green or dusty pale blu with the white roof and flash...but that's just my personal love of the colours of the era

. Thoroughly enjoying watching your updates
Cheers,
