Progress!

Been shopping on ebay, secured a bonnet bird, a pair of indicators to replace the broken one originally on the ute and a knob for the indicator stalk which was missing.

Thanks goes to:

Nick (Deadsled) for a set of Holden letters to replace the letters that are broken/glued.
Shelley (Sheilashoe) For the remaining steering wheel/horn parts that were missing can't wait for the road trip tomorrow!
Dave (EK61) for radio blanking plate and commercial dash.

I got some Idea's from the Ute Muster also, Except mine were eaisier. (And Finished)

Other than that, one of our few ideas for the Ute would be a Detachable addon for the tray... Uteswag.

The guy that makes them has said he will do custom ones. and he does do Soft tops (No need for hard cover)
They all pack down and the standard Tonneau will cover when its down. Takes 5 mins to erect. and would be removable from the ute without damaging it.
Would just clip on to the studs/hooks. and has a basic frame inside that would be attached to a tubliner.
Long story short, we may be repairing the ute to showroom condition, But it will end up being a ute that dosent just sit around and go to shows, it will be used as a ute. (With a bit of protection such as a removable tubliner to protect it)

No actually DR I had a brilliant idea of turning all of our BNS stickers into magnets that way she could be a part time BNS ute part time show ute

God its hard enough to get one decent tailgate let alone two.

glad i'm not the only one that thought no good can come from ideas gained at a ute muster, my general impression is step 1. buy a good ute, step 2. make it look and sound like the biggest piece of crap possable finished

Got some great parts from Shelley today
All the steering bits that were missing, also the front window trim that was also missing and the lower gearbox crossmember, amongst other odds and ends. Either way, excelent day in melbourne!

Ideally I would like to store my ute in an enclosed shed but it may have to take up residence in Dad's machinery shed which being open to the weather has a good chance of rats and mice taking up residence in the ute again, spent a lot of time cleaning rat poop from the interior very smelly and gross thus why lack of photos in our thread lately.

Daniel hopes to buy a house with a half decent shed in the next few months so I've been told to stop buying stuff but I like shopping so it's not like I listened I've been buying parts here and there to a point my spare bedroom is beginning to rival the spare parts shelves at work on the plus side despite the rarity of standard trims I have almost everything needed for the interior, I've been taking photos just waiting for Daniel to upload them to his webserver so we can show our progress.

We've found little rust so far I am a little uneasy that any sighting of rust in typical male fashion has been met with "it's just surface rust" from Daniel, despite shopping I'm starting to put funds aside for a panel beater as I have a feeling once we remove the paint it's going to be more than surface rust as rust on the inside of one of the front fenders indicates we may have a huge rust problem in the plenum chamber.

stick yor head under the dash you'll see rust in the plenum chamber if it's there (rust that is) i'm sure you find rust in tucked away hidden places but don't worry you won't be the first and you certainly won't be the last it can all be fixed

X2. My plenum chamber was rusted both sides. To fix it we cut the pieces from another shell that was rusted in other areas ( luckily ). Also make sure you replace the drain tubes while your at it.

Some new picts showing various things.
such as condition of wheel behind the hubcaps, removed taillights, fuel filler hole, dashboard speaker hole, intierorier with seat removed, the speakers that were removed from the hole (Someone opted for a cheap-o conversion to stereo 2x 4" speakers. (Don't use a thin piece of board and shit speakers like the previous owner of this did, get good speakers and make a proper bracket)) - images also include inside front guards, and the back of the headlightsm showing that 2 of the adjuster bolts (One on each) have corroded off and are now just loose through the bracket.
