Just a thought....... were the fuel & vac lines originally double flared?

I'm sure they wouldn't need to be, but mine are. Did the standard suction test and perfect seal.

Very tidy work Brett. I reckon most of the pipe flares on early Holden are double flared, with the exception of the bell flares to the HD HR disc caliper pipes.

From memory, EJ onwards have a different vac advance module with a nipple-and-hose setup. Rob will know for certain.

Thanks Harv. BTW have got my rear door gadgets sorted now

You're a good fellow Blacky. 'Sorted' cause yours are coming. In the meantime I borrowed one off Orange Betty to keep going on door reassembly (so need to replace) and Sunny Tim found me one. Still would like your 2 and will pick the best one from yours' and Tim's one to give back to Dave, use one on Wilma and put the leftover one in my spare door. There appears to be no difference between left and right door?

Is it practical to drop motor/gearbox assembly back into engine bay with clutch slave cylinder bolted on?

Yeah but no but . . .

If you have no exhaust, then you could bolt the slave cylinder (with hose attached) and RHR engine mount onto the gearbox, leave the LHR engine mount and bracket off, and then install the engine and gearbox. You'll need to move the whole show over to the left in order to clear the steering box, but with a trolley jack under the bellhousing you can do it. Which just leaves the task of connecting hose to clutch pipe and inserting the clip. No mean feat that.

I leave the rear engine mounts and brackets off when doing an engine-in, and only bolt them up when the engine and gearbox are in position. But that's with the clutch slave already in the car.

I hope so. I was planning to do so since raff dumped contents on the floor when bleeding brakes. I'm sure I've done it before.
