They are pretty strong. The load is spread over the sheet metal by the body of the pulley mount. You could also insert a pop rivet in front of the shaft counter the shear effect. Weld free.

I think I follow what you are describing, I’ll get it sorted today.

Bit the bullet and welded a piece in out of the out wreck.
I can’t believe the amount of parts I’ve pulled off this thing, it just doesn’t stop haha.

To be honest Drew, that was the only option really. It was just one of those (many) unhappy things that happens (to all of us) during the course of our restos.
Good on you for getting on with it and sorting it out.

Yeah Brett I was just so pissed off at myself for missing it when I had the Y frames off that I just wanted to take a short cut to fix it.

In the end it really only took the morning to sort out, not actually a big deal.

Thats right, do everything at least 3 times before its right.

Drew don't forget to treat the inside where its welded if you can get at it.

Yes 1 step forward and 3 backwards sometimes!

Hey these rims are for sale locally and I am curious to know if they will fit the FB with STD drums all round.

They are Torana maybe but I dont know much else about them.
15 x 7 apparently but I’m unsure of the offset.

I looked up the tyre and rim guide that is on this site but couldn’t see a direct answer there, just shooting for some information from someone who has them fitted

Drew,

The measurement for the rims are from the inside of the bead, so they look to be 6 inch.

Also they look like Volvo rims, which has the early Holden pattern and being 15 inch.

Offset is measured from the edge of the rim to the inside bolt face, and the difference from the centre line of the rim, if that makes sense.

Regards

Greg

100% what Greg said, they are Volvo and if they are saying 15x7 measuring that way they may well be 14" also. Pretty sure early Volvo (which they appear to be) were 14"

They have a lot of positive offset which ain't ideal, and not very appealing looking centres.

A mate has a pair of rims on Gumtree at the moment. Ian at myponga.

He's asking a bit for them but I'd say he'll be open to offers. They will take original caps but they are reverse stock.

BCI Wheels have 15x6" from time to time which will also take original caps.
